Suele pasar cuando hay mucha presión, mucho trabajo . Creo que encontrar espacios para dar reconocimiento y agradecer es muy importante. Pero también encontrar tiempo para romper el hielo, romper la tensión y convivir. Adicional hay que contribuir para capacitación o tomar un curso para fomentar su desarrollo y contribuir a que encuentren nuevamente esa chispa.

Here’s how I approach it: Assign them a task or dish they excel at and let them shine. Positive reinforcement can rekindle confidence this helps in highlighting the strengths. If they seem stagnant, pairing them with a senior chef or rotating them into different kitchen stations can reignite their interest. That will allow them to have more opportunities. A heartfelt conversation goes a long way. Ask them about their goals, challenges, and what they love most about cooking to identify where they need support. This is the most purposeful feedback that we can offer as a senior/team. Reigniting a team member’s passion in the kitchen is as much about leadership as it is about creating the right environment.

Put away the old tools and equipment and ask the staff to share their needs with you.

You need to know what each of your staff is passionate about first. Then you feed the passion with tasks. But the tasks have to come from them, so there is ownership and engagement. If you assign the task, it’s just another job for them to complete.

For me, this would begin with a casual conversation. Inquiring about what is going on. Ask questions and most important thing, just listen with intent! Take notes and recap when the associate completes their thoughts. My next step would be asking what is their goal here. Maybe they’re not feeling the team vibe. If this associate is worth fixing, one should do everything in their power to ensure they have every tool to be successful. Let’s back up. A chef, kitchen manager or other leader would notice an unhappy associate if leaders are engaged every day present. Proactive leadership vs reactive leadership. I would say good morning each day to all of my associates. Always got the read in the first minutes of the day. Proactive leadership!

Help by guiding them to the way they make a difference in others lives; then they can usually come back to where they started in the first place. Or a good old swift one ill do ya.!! lol! But calm convo works very well to bring ppl back to centter of being overwhelmed.

There are many staff who feel demotivated due to many reasons. For me the way to reignite is through providing a present guidance to lead the staff, showcasing the way to their career path and goals. As a leader I also feel that one needs to understand the staff feeling towards their work, which can also be a helpful way to improve the work ethic.
