One thing that has always worked for me is not burning the bridge. I will keep in touch with the said stakeholder and ask for an introduction to his or her replacement. I will nurture the business relationship from there and do my best to maintain the relationship by understanding the new business requirements from the new stakeholder and how we can collaborate and partner for a mutually beneficial relationship. I will also schedule a one on one call before a physical meet to put a face to the name of the new stakeholder and meet them in person.

For me, it’s always been a process to organise, track and communicate with trust & confidence to experience continuous improvement in all relationships, more so when it comes to key partnerships/stakeholders. And when there is a role switch, to ensure continuity have looked to adapt quickly by not just identifying & establishing new contacts but by also ensuring old contacts are retained; after all people relationships are ever evolving and they more often than not move within the ecosystem. So to sum up a. React quickly to establish new contacts and retain old network b. Demonstrate commitment. Stay Open, Dependable & Connected. Schedule more frequent connectivity to re-establish goals, manage expectations & build trust.

Communication is the best way to built trust during the transition phase of the a key stakeholder, start through continuous communication , personal meetings & understanding business goals & priorities of the new partner. Work on his priority setting & aligning it with company. Also apprise company's vision ,mission & goals to make the phase smooth for him to understand. Most importantly identify his pain points & try to resolve it as quick as possible which can built the trust of the new stakeholder. Next closely work on regular basis during the initial phase of the the transition for easy adaptability. Any change in key human resource is challenging in a set process but when it is inevitable accept & move forward for growth & continuity.
