Well first of all if they are copying then you must be doing something right, kuddos on that! Thinking as a PM I would focus on proactive innovation, customer centricity and shorter sprints/iterations to guarantee I am staying ahead of the game by addressing real problem my clients have. Now thinking as a PMM and GTM specialist I'd double down on branding, executing campaigns that focus on being the real leader and innovator connecting with influencers and experts that will help me differentiate myself from the copycats.

I understand that hear the customer and provide them a good customer experience can offset most of the times the action to be an innovator all the time. Be an innovator , but not provide a great customer suport would not give you the leadership on the long run.

3 Things to market authenticity and originality of features: 1.Create Unique Trademark for the feature to showcase originality as an innovator. 2.Publish the story of feature creation that includes precision in data collection, clinical trials and evidence. 3.Work with key market leaders and share their experience, opinion genuinely with unpaid mutually beneficial collaboration.

It’s one of the best things when competitors starts a copy, means you are on driving seat driving the product for entire market / consumer. If I would be in this place , I would innovate on my existing to turn it to 2.0 version and so on and keep enhancing on the features with complete customer feedback and always stay ahead. This shall make competition think before reinvestment or again copy and you are back on driving seat. Playing with the product is the best thing for Product Management. Let’s not say it Copy, lets term it as Market Need Change. As this can be even vice Versa sometimes and we need to appreciate the best design and good product development.

It happen all the time, because entry barrier is getting lower. Everyone can innovate, but when we invest in branding, customer experience and service the consequence is customer loyalty and revenues increase.

Product imitation is very common these days. We can rely on below strategies to reduce the negative impact to the brand- 1. Continuous Innovation- Razor sharp focus on USPs 2. Market Intelligence- Sharp eye on competition offerings 3. End user feedback - Constant touch with end user to understand the shift in preference and experience 4. Lesser TAT - Aligning resources so that it takes lesser time to bring the upgraded product to market 5. Loyalty Programs and rewards - Categorization of customers based on usage pattern needs to be done and the top bracket needs to be continuously engaged for better brand experience
