IT's crucial to adjust quickly while staying focused on your priorities. As Stephen Covey emphasizes in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, "The key is not to prioritize what's on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities." Start by taking a step back to assess what truly needs your immediate attention—this prevents reactionary decisions that can derail progress. Lean on your team and delegate where you can, effectively distributing the workload. Use time-blocking to reallocate time for urgent issues while maintaining structure. Lastly, keep communication open and transparent with stakeholders, managing expectations as situations evolve.

When a well-planned day goes off track, regaining control means acting with clarity and purpose. First, I take a moment to reset—calm brings focus. Then, I quickly triage: what’s essential, and what can wait? Prioritising this way separates the critical from the background noise. Delegation follows—I rely on my team to tackle vital tasks, building trust and strengthening teamwork. Finally, I assign time blocks for each priority, ensuring focus without descending into chaos. By staying composed, aligning with strategy, and channelling the team’s collective strength, I turn disruption into opportunity.

LET GO of your ‘perfectly planned day!!’ How? By recognising it NEVER existed! ACCEPTANCE is THE KEY here. As it is with all changes in life. Everything happens for a reason. Your mission is to accept & pay attention to what is going on. If you believe everything happens for a reason AND for the highest good of all.. this will help you find the silver lining in whatever is going on. It’s THERE. The UNIVERSE is WITH YOU.. not against you! YOU'RE NEVER SENT MORE THAN YOU CAN HANDLE. Plus what we resist.. persists. That’s a NATURAL law. When everything starts to go pear-shaped all that matters is your ATTITUDE. You can’t CONTROL what happens; you ARE in control of your reaction! ACCEPT, CO-OPERATE, UNDERSTAND & move forward with ENTHUSIASM

When my day is derailed by unexpected crises, I focus on regaining control by quickly assessing the situation and prioritizing what needs immediate attention. As a financial advisor and team leader, I know that staying calm and not reacting impulsively is crucial. I delegate tasks where possible, communicate clearly with my team about shifting priorities, and break down larger issues into manageable steps. By staying adaptable and focused on the bigger picture, I can navigate through the crises without losing sight of my long-term goals, ensuring both my team and clients remain supported.

As an entrepreneur, unexpected crises are part of the game. The key is to stay adaptable. I take a moment to assess the situation, prioritize what really needs attention, and delegate where possible. Then, I refocus on the tasks that will move things forward, no matter the curveballs

When my day goes to hell, the first thing I do is pause, take a deep breath and give myself a minute to re-group. I remind myself that things go sideways even on days where I’ve planned everything to the minute. Then I prioritize. I ask myself, what absolutely has to get done today and what can wait? Focusing on the essentials means I can tackle the urgent without feeling overwhelmed by the whole list. I also try to be flexible. Sometimes I’ll even turn the setback into a mini-break or a reset and give myself a chance to approach the day with a new perspective. I find a positive attitude seeing challenges as temporary detours not roadblocks makes a big difference.

Start by pausing to assess and prioritize. Identify the most urgent issues that require immediate attention and separate them from tasks that can be postponed. Address the critical problems first, breaking them down into manageable steps to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Communicate with any team members affected by the shift in plans, resetting expectations and delegating tasks if possible. Once the immediate crises are managed, return to your original priorities, focusing on high-impact tasks to regain momentum.

You can always adjust your plan when unexpected things happen and succeed. There are unlimited ways to adjust your plan. It just depends on your creativity to take what is presented to you and plan it accordingly.
