Share data on your audience demographics, engagement rates, and past campaign successes to demonstrate ROI. Offer to collaborate on content that aligns with their brand while providing insights into how their audience can benefit from your product or service. Be open to compromise, such as proposing performance-based incentives or additional long-term partnership opportunities to create value for both parties.

Start by researching their audience engagement, reach, and relevance to your brand to justify or counter their rate with data. Highlight the benefits of the partnership, like long-term collaboration, exclusive opportunities, or co-branded initiatives, to sweeten the deal. Offer a performance-based model, such as bonuses for hitting specific KPIs, to align costs with results. Be transparent about your budget while leaving room for compromise, and maintain a respectful tone to keep the relationship positive, even if negotiations are tough.

Ask what is the reason for asking high price and communicate a clear idea of what you (as a company) is looking forward to the collaboration. Also, negotiate if there would be any additional efforts made by the influencer after rising the price.

I’d propose a partnership model, suggesting they forgo upfront fees in favor of profit-sharing based on the campaign’s success. I’d emphasize the potential for recurring revenue and growth together, showing them the long-term value of aligning our goals. This creates a vested interest in maximizing our joint success.

Build a relationship with the creator, allow them to produce the post in their voice, give them the creativity and leeway to do so. Also, evaluate the actual time, effort, and overall scope of work needed for the ask. Many times brands don't realize the time commitment involved, nor appreciate the other posts/work the creator might have in addition to this priority.

All comes down to the data and the fit. If the influencer has metrics that fit the campaign type your running and will genuinely be of great value with positive return, then it's just a case of negotiation and potentially they would be willing to do a split-compensation method or come down. If the value is there but not enough to be net positive for the rate they are offering then let them know the best you can do, back it up with data and see what happens.

This year, I had meetings with over 100+ influencers, and we did all sorts of campaigns. What I learned was that very few of them can actually perform in case your goal is to sell your products. If you want a brand awareness then ok. But in case you want them to sell your product, check out if they have a real influence on people and we noticed that influencers who are being real with their audience, showing the good, bad, and ugly are the ones who are the most relatable and people trust them more. Those are the influencers that create mostly video content, showing themselves in all sorts of versions. Next, watch out how they sell other products and if they are convincing or not. Most influencers just don't know how to sell.

Next, resist the urge to fight fire with fire. Public mudslinging rarely ends well. Instead, reach out privately to address concerns and find common ground. If resolution seems unlikely, consider legal counsel, but use it as a last resort. The court of public opinion often matters more than actual courts. Transparency is key. Address the issue publicly with a measured, factual statement. Show willingness to improve and learn from the situation. Remember: How you handle criticism often speaks louder than the criticism itself.
