Under heavy load of work , the solutions that work for me are : 1) stay calm and analyses what has to be done 2) set a priority list and maintain it 3) work on each item until completion

Being slightly overwhelmed is a characteristic of most businesses nowadays. Take a deep breath, calm down, make a list of what you have to do and prioritise. Start from the top and work down. Do not connect all issues together or you will tie yourself up in knots. Remember your mental health is the most important thing, maintain a work and life balance. Do not, under any circumstances, allow work to impact your family and home life. If you still are overwhelmed talk to your boss and ask for help. Finally do not be afraid to say NO and speak up with your concerns. You will be surprised at how willing people are to help if they only know the issue. If all else fails, leave the job and do something that will give you a piece of mind.

Another observation is Tlthe overwhelmed feeling often arises when we feel there is not enough time, resource/tools, or information for the workload. It often helps to discuss it with the supervisor, mentor, or a trusted senior and get an alternative insight on the situation or how to resolve it.

In the course of an EPC project, when the engineering design demands pile up, it becomes extremely crucial to work smarter. As a Team Leader, I would implement the following strategies to manage the workload demand: - Break down the project into small manageable tasks and set intermediate deadlines to stay on track. - Utilize the various project planning management tools like Primevera etc. to arrange the tasks in a proper sequence and flag priorities to ensure nothing slips through. - Delegate tasks to Team Members, where possible, collaborate with them to share the work load and brainstorm efficient solutions, avoiding any R&D in the process. - Hold regular review meetings with the Team to ensure the tasks are accomplished well in time.

Any project is unique in its own way and comes with unknown uncertanities. These uncertanities often leads to deferred completion of certain activities and deliverables leading to a series of linked activities getting delayed. We should analyse such scenario by evaluating the critical path and identifying the deliverables which needs to be priortised to ensure least impact on overall project schedule. Priortise deliverables which opens front for other linked deliverables and supports construction priority.
