Team building exercises, in particular activities that include a little bit of gentle physical movement, are a wonderful way to use non-verbal (or at least less official) communication as another layer of syncing up with my peers. I love to include a tiny bit of interaction into two minute bodyshakes, when coming back from a break for example, also in online meetings. I agree with everything shared below, however I also think it's important to separate the method from the result. Too often I see people throwing in ice-breaker activities just because they think they should, without really considering what the desired result is and how it can contribute to a workshop or way of working (besides just being fun and breaking the ice). I think it's super important to be very clear about the kind of energy you want in a session, and then how the ice-breaker can aid or harm that. For example, if you are trying to support a team to have more trust, openness and vulnerability, bringing in a competitive ice-breaker doesnt help with that; it sets people apart from one another and moves ppl against each other.

Each team building program with a focus on quality conversations and how to have them will surpass the adventure, fun style team-building. You can gamify any program, but it's important to install behavioral skills consciously. If someone says, oh we had great fun and can't tell you how they changed, what they learned and how they will apply it, it's really a fun day out. You can still have fun with programs that embed psychological tools for teams. Drawing, karaoke and socializing is the Apres Ski of team building days. Make it real and make it count, I say.

Não importa quais ou quantas ferramentas de team building você utilize, a lição mais importante é respeitar a individualidade e a personalidade das pessoas que integram a equipe. Uma pessoa que não se sente à vontade em participar de uma dinâmica que envolve alto grau de exposição, por exemplo, jamais pode se sentir excluída ou segregada por isso. Equipes são formadas por pessoas, não por fórmulas mágicas e uniformidade de pensamento.
