Deep breathing, positive self talk , anchoring yourself to presence, are the things which I find useful! Try not to overpower and looking for an assertive outcome during a negotiation is key to success 👍🏻

If i’ll ever be caught in such situation, i will follow the following steps to keep myself calm and composed. ~ Breathing exercises 🧘♀️ Slow and deep breaths help reduce tensions ~ Listening actively 👂 I’ll try to listen closely the other person’s words and will observe his actions more calmly. ~ Staying present exercises 🆒 I’ll try to control my mind by staying in the present moment and focussing on “what’s happening now” which will help me to respond rather than react. ~ “All is well” 🫀 I believe in consoling my heart and mind saying “all is well” or “everything is perfectly fine” mantras❤️

In a tense negotiation, mindfulness is like your emotional armor, helping you stay cool and strategic. Start by anchoring yourself with slow, deep breaths; this lowers stress and keeps you from reacting impulsively. Picture the negotiation as a game of chess, not a battlefield—this keeps your mind open and curious rather than defensive. Mindfulness helps you listen deeply, catching nuances you might miss when nerves are high. Notice your reactions as they arise without acting on them; it’s powerful to pause before responding. If tensions rise, mentally check in with your core goal. Staying calm, present, and intentional will make you a stronger, more focused negotiator.

In a tense negotiation, mindfulness can be a game-changer. First, focus on your breath to ground yourself, preventing emotional reactions. Take a moment to observe the situation without judgment, which helps you stay objective. Practice active listening, giving full attention to the other party’s words without rushing to respond, allowing you to better understand their needs. If emotions flare, pause to reset, acknowledging any feelings without letting them dictate your actions. This calm presence can help you think more clearly, make well-considered decisions, and maintain a collaborative tone — key to finding mutually beneficial solutions. By staying mindful, you can navigate even the trickiest negotiations with poise and confidence.

• Know your desired outcome ahead of time. • Consider their background and perspective. • Keep your emotions in check and respond thoughtfully. • Use polite, clear language and maintain a professional demeanor. • Prioritize the negotiation's goals over personal issues. • Acknowledge the other party's perspective and steer the discussion back to a constructive path. • If the behaviour becomes too disruptive, calmly set boundaries and ask for a more respectful discussion. • Keep a record of all communications. • Take a walk to clear your head and engage your right brain. • Know your best alternative to a negotiated agreement (BATNA).
