I think amplifying thought leadership is all about engaging with the right people who add depth to your narrative. Industry influencers play a key role here. First, their reach can validate your voice—when they share or comment on your ideas, it sparks wider conversations. Second, their insights can refine your perspectives. I often find that interacting with influencers in the startup ecosystem exposes me to trends I may have overlooked. My thought is to genuinely connect with influencers—not to pitch, but to collaborate. Share your unique startup insights and let relationships evolve organically. This approach, in my experience, builds credibility and opens doors to a larger audience.

A decade ago not many people were aware of the term influencers. Typically, an influencer or subject matter expert was a manager, or mentor. However in today's world an influencer is an individual on social media with a large following. If you are trying to amplify your thought leadership a. pick your influencers carefully and make sure they are aligned with your values and beliefs b. research your topic and write articles that offer further pointers and insights on your product or service c. use graphics, images or videos that enhance your message d. communicate frequently and stay current with all the new trends in your industry.

Choosing the right platform to help you amplify your thought leadership through social media is key. Not all social media platforms are equal. For example it would not be wise to target leadership collaborations on TikTok instead of LinkedIn. I personally notice a huge difference in results targeting leader’s of Facebook versus leader’s on LinkedIn. Choose wisely. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below …

Like any effort you take to extend your voice in a thought leadership campaign, regardless of who you engage, do not treat as a one and your done exercise. Take advantage of what the influencer you are engaging with has to offer over time. It’s easy to lose sight of the time it truly takes. Also, look to engage someone who is strong in platforms and channels you are not particularly strong in. That will also help in tracking progress and ensuring you are being successful in your efforts.
