Active listening is an important tool, however in my experience the more important skill is humility. When conflict arises, especially when completing tasks in work environments, we as humans have a tendency to put up our guards and prove our point. This almost always closes the door to any type of true listening in conversation. By shifting the priority to humility, I’ve learned that it becomes much easier to seek to understand, not just seek to be right. Humility overflows into active listening, truth-seeking, and mindfulness in the workplace.
