Communication is the key. Start with broad organisational objectives and then move to functional ones. Look at the priorities of the function and design smart goals. Do include some goals on projects to foster learning.

When organizational goals aren’t clearly defined or broken down into actionable roles for each level, confusion is inevitable. Below key step as to address these challenges effectively: • Translate high-level goals into team-specific objectives: • Clarify how each person’s tasks align with their team’s objectives. • Designate clear ownership for key goals at each organizational level. • Empower leaders at every tier to guide their teams in understanding & delivering on expectations. • Use multiple communication methods—emails, town halls, visual frameworks (e.g., strategy maps). • Reinforce the message regularly to ensure alignment and understanding. • Regularly review progress to check if objectives are understood and being met.

To give clear objectives to the team as a leader you must first of all have all the objectives clear in your mind. This is the first and very often underestimated thing to do. Then you have to fix one to one meetings to discuss the objectives in a clear and personalised way. A very important thing to do too is to define measurable mid term objectives

Each team member needs to understand how the company’s goals align with the team’s objectives and their individual contributions. It’s not just about setting tasks and deadlines—it’s about connecting what’s being asked with the bigger purpose and what it means for them personally. Develop goals collaboratively with each team member to confirm alignment and ensure they feel invested. Different people process information in different ways, so knowing your team is key. Some may respond better to visual aids, while others prefer storytelling or data-driven explanations. Ultimately, team goals must balance what the company needs to achieve with the individual’s professional growth. Establishing this connection avoids confusion.

Visualize Goals: Use tools like roadmaps, dashboards, or flowcharts to illustrate how individual tasks contribute to the overall objectives.
