Automation resistance? I've faced it too. The key is empathy: I showed my team how automation simplifies tasks, not replaces them. By involving them in decisions and providing hands-on training, we turned skeptics into advocates. Small steps lead to big changes!

One thing I found helpful here is taking them in confidence from initial stage likewise “defining problem” and the “identification of key challenge” are two activities which given them the long term outlook related to the outcomes expected from an automation derive. This will help them to understand more about the benefits in their day to day efficiency and elimination of non productive activities killing their quality time which can be utilised in more analytical and improvement activities rather doing manual transactional work.

This is quite common problem in manufacturing firm. First step is to remove all obstacles like spreading false information to the team/management. This resolves half the problem. Second is stakeholder success. The team should be educated about the pros (advantages) of automation and benifits from repepeatitive work. Finally, automation always gives, automated reports/ dashboards. This is nothing but most authentic data. This authentic data will always result in organizational transparency. Organizational transparency always lead to achive financial literacy.

As a leader of the team, first accept any sort of a resistance in new changes and then work closely and listen carefully to their concerns in this case for data entry automation. Second, be inclusive by giving them the big picture and share with them how this will be beneficial for them in daily activities for the business ( flowless data entry, Zero error , efficiency improvement) . Third, let them be part for the automation solution which will make the team buy-in the new change. Final, always demonstrate their successful involvement in the project of data entry automation and start the continuoual improvements.

We face these issues in GCCs where, post the first round of cost savings of Lift and Shift jobs happen from high-cost to low-cost locations. The idea is to go up the value chain and automation of data entry providing clean data is the key. It is important to communicate and involve people to move up the value chain, which is both good for the organization and their careers, providing the motivation to be part of the automation exercise rather than a deterrent. It's important to note that automation is just one level of the overall strategy of driving value by transforming data to enable sound business decisions and identifying trends, which are critical to constantly evolving business strategy.

Ask for suggestions and start with those automation projects. People are much more motivated to implement their own ideas and when they are involved in the conversation.
