Finding a middle ground and expectation management is essential to ensure the training is engaging and effective. 1. Have open discussions about the participants' expectations and as well as share yours with them. Emphasise the goal & the scope of the training as well. 2. Adapt the pace of the training as per the comfort and the curriculum designed. Use a blended approach to incorporate various modes of learning. Chunk down the segment to make the retention easier. Give real-world examples, use case studies. Give additional resources/ references. 3. Engage in continuous feedback as well as balance challenging and support style of facilitation. 4. Create a safe environment for the participants to share their concerns.

It's important to set clear training goals and discuss them at the beginning to ensure everyone is on the same page. This alone can already create a shared understanding of the intensity of the training. However, it is also key to pay attention to participants as the training advances and if they seem to be lost, adjust the pace and approach - it's their space after all to learn and if they can't keep up, the learning goals won't be reached.

If the clash over intensity has to be reduced, then the trainer can do the following 1. Making the session more interactive 2. Involving every learner to open up 3. Activity driven 4. Limited slides 5. Acknowledgement & Appreciation By this, the learners will enjoy it. If they enjoy it, the conflicts will be limited.
