I believe this starts before walking into a meeting. How mindful are you in other areas of your life? You cannot expect to "turn on" this skill if you don't use it on a regular basis. The majority of people multitask and are never actually full present in any area of their lives. Start practicing it outside of the meeting room. Then, that habit can follow.
