I suggest adopting a continuous improvement mindset with techniques such as Six Sigma or Lean to periodically assess and optimize the process model. - Encourage a culture where employees are always looking for ways to improve the process, which in turn would necessitate updates to the model.

In my experience process models are often thought of as a “once and done” exercise. As the visual representation of how products and services are delivered to customers they should be elevated to “asset” status. To accomplish this, consider: 1. Designing a Process Repository to house all process models 2. Integrating the repository into change governance, ensuring all change agents such as GRC, Transformation and Optimization partners leverage and update the repository with each initiative or project When done appropriately not only will the business eliminate the need to repeatedly rediscover current state, but will also improve their organizational nimbleness and response time to internal and external pressures.
