Recent research has shown that traditional SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Risky, Time-phased - depending on your acronym) can be Demotivating. One of the things I loved the most about my Academy for Coaching Excellence (ACE) training was being taught about The Green Lens. One of the concepts of seeing someone through The Green Lens is recognizing that my client is a hero - whole and complete. Another concept of The Green Lens is recognition that my client has all of their own answers. Coaching is a great way to build higher self awareness together with a heightened sense of agency in the coachee. The coachee feels more in control and more able to address the challenges he/ she may be facing. In the coach there is a sounding board and someone who has the best interests of the coachee at heart. All this enhances resilience!

Resilience is the only true emotional muscle. It helps you to bounce back from setbacks and is the one true friend when the chips are down. Since it is not innate and something that can be consciously developed, it is heart and centre coaching territory. The Covid pandemic showed us why resilience is necessary. I would urge all to take resiliency tests and if it's not your strong suite, to immediately work on the same with a coach. You can't lead without resilience. Period

In my experience success, recognition and reward come when we find our flow in an authentic way.
