Let's apply SMART goals to the team's expectations Meet with the entire team again to go over the project's goal and the individual expectations. 2.Get on a call with the specific team member and get to understand why the deadlines are not being met. 3. Offer the necessary support and training. 4. Apply the practice of a 'daily standup' meeting with the individual in question or the entire team. Work through the challenges and celebrate the small wins and progress. This would help motivate the team members to see that their work is inching the project towards its goal. 4.Give each team member a 'check-up- buddy'...someone to check-in on them, especially the remote employee.

During COVID, we were fully remote, and clear expectations were set: - being online on chat portals - responsive during work hours, and - Ensure everyone is aligned with tasks. If someone consistently missed deadlines, I handled it this way: 1. Offer support and check if they needed help. 2. During daily stand-ups, team members affected by delays would mention how it impacted their work. Since normally no one appreciates being called out, or being the main reason for the delay, while others are waiting on them, this usually made the person aware and motivated them to improve by the next call. If things didn’t change, I’d have a 1-on-1 discussion and, if needed, set up a performance improvement plan to address the issue.
