In my experience i believe assigning tasks to team members according to each of their expertise and interest, giving them full autonomy of decision making with clear understanding that those decision are aligned with the goal of the project. The human thrives on its sweet spot, in this instance its showing off in a specific portion of a team project as a puzzle piece.
