Finding the right balance between teacher support and administrative tasks requires clear prioritization and efficient processes. I would start by identifying the most urgent and impactful tasks in each area. Leveraging tools like scheduling software or task automation can streamline administrative duties, freeing up time for teacher engagement. Regular communication with teachers helps address their needs effectively while ensuring administrative responsibilities are not neglected. Delegating tasks and setting boundaries also ensures both areas receive adequate attention without burnout.

Most of my leadership career in school I worked to reduce teacher administrative workload by optimising digital tools. The challenge is training staff to use them without adding a stress burden. One of the greatest potential opportunities at this time is utilising the new generative and analytical AI tools to support school practitioners. A great explanation that I use with staff now is that we need to identify machine-like elements of our work so that we can use our skills as humans more significantly. Reduce the aspects of the workplace that are mechanistic and repetitive and allow humans to be human!
