Veganism has really become the trend of the hour. As people become more aware of plant-based diets, the concept of veganism is becoming more popular. For the uninitiated, veganism or vegan diet is one that avoids the consumption of all animal products, including dairy products and eggs.
A vegan diet is not only good for our health, but also environmentally friendly. It is a lifestyle practice that not only takes care of your health, but also takes care of the Earth and the animals around us. World Vegan Day 2022 is celebrated today, November 1. It was originally founded in 1994 by the UK Vegan Society to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the day the term ‘vegan’ first appeared. The concept of veganism has been around for over 200 years. To mark the occasion, here are some of the vegan dishes you must try on World Vegan Day:
Fried tofu with rice: The simple Chinese recipe is prepared with vegetables and tofu. You will need to heat the oil in a pan, add the garlic, onions, peppers and vegetables and fry the mixture. Then add the cooked rice, tofu and salt. Serve hot and enjoy.
Thandai with almond milk: A refreshing drink, thandai is a classic Indian drink often prepared at home. To do this, one can use almond milk or any other vegetable milk that one likes.
Falafel with Pita Bread: Falafel is a classic Middle Eastern recipe that can be made at home with fried chickpea balls placed in pita bread. Make chickpea balls using chickpea flour, spices and chickpeas and add delicious tahini sauce and sour cream to complete the dish.
Peanut Butter Cake: Take a microwave-safe mug and pour in 1 tbsp of oil, powdered sugar, dairy-free milk, peanut butter, a pinch of baking powder, and flour. Mix everything until you get a smooth paste. Pop the mug in the microwave for just 2 minutes and you’ve got vegan peanut butter cake ready in 5 minutes.
Vegan pasta: You can make pasta at home with readily available ingredients. Just take suji, flour, salt, water and olive oil to make pasta at home and enjoy it with your favorite sauce.
