Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields hailed the benefits of a plant-based diet and encouraged those considering giving up meat to follow their instincts.
The NFL star switched to a plant-based diet while in quarantine during his senior year at Ohio State.
The Justin Fields Diet
In an interview with QG, Fields said, “Going plant-based was one of the best things I could do for my body. It makes my body feel good overall.
“I noticed the difference right away, a few weeks I would say, and it allowed me to continue more easily on the plant path…
“After seeing the differences in my body and my recovery, it’s become very natural. Honestly, the new plant-based options they offer do the trick when you crave a good burger once in a while .
Fields added that going plant-based shortened her recovery time and helped fight inflammation – benefits that “shocked” her trainers.
Plus, there’s no shortage of protein-rich vegan snacks these days to enjoy post-workout.
‘It was easy’
When asked for advice for people wanting to eliminate meat from their diet, he replied, “I would say, go for it. It was hard for me the first two weeks, but after I got used to it, it was easy.
Now, Fields’ diet consists of healthy vegan dishes such as avocado on toast and açaí bowls — plus the occasional plant-based ice cream bars from KIND for a treat.
He also recommends visiting Can’t Believe It’s Not Meat whenever he’s in Chicago.
Although vegans are regularly asked the question “where does your protein come from?”, Fields is just one of many athletes who have gone vegan.
