Lewis Hamilton once exposed the truth about the vegan diet after gaining more than 10% of his body weight

Gone are the days when F1 drivers drove cars without the need to diet or exercise. Today’s riders need to be in shape and follow a strict diet to stay on top of their game. Lewis Hamilton has been consistently at this level for 15 years.

He’s also been a vegan for a while now. In one of his old Instagram posts, he exposed the myth behind a vegan misconception to his 30 million followers.

Hamilton trained and maintained his weight of around 68 kg (150 lb) consistently for 12 years. However, in 2019, he gained more muscle and weighed around 75 kg (165 lb). Plus, he busted a popular myth that vegans don’t get enough protein to build strength.

Lewis Hamilton shared an insightful post on his Instagram account. He captioned the Publish, “Adding weight was easy and I did it on a vegan diet. People say “oh, I need my protein and that’s why I could never go vegan”. I have lots of protein in my diet and have gained muscle, and I am healthier and happier than I have ever been.

The Mercedes driver also said he would have started following the vegan diet earlier if he had known the same.

Lewis Hamilton regrets not starting a plant-based diet sooner

Lewis Hamilton adopted a plant-based diet in 2017, and he hasn’t looked back since. The 37-year-old F1 driver is in top form. He talks about how he thinks his fitness has improved since switching to a plant-based diet.

Some time ago, Lewis said, “Three years ago, I decided to follow a plant-based diet. The only thing I regret is not having done it before.

He also added, “My taste buds have learned things I never thought I would eat and now love: falafel, avocado, beets, fresh and dried fruit.”

Hamilton also mentioned that his change in approach to food helped him. He admits he struggled and his energy was inconsistent before switching to a vegan diet.
