Whether you’re a vegan, vegetarian, or just looking to incorporate a few extra herbs into your diet, we’ve got the scoop on where to find the best vegan food in Birmingham.
Blue Root Co. brings healthy and fresh food to Bham
Blue Root Co. opened their flagship store in Pepper Place earlier this year, and we can’t get enough of their fresh and tasty offerings. They also have a beloved location known as “The Outpost” in Mountain Brook.
Today we’re highlighting “Pacific”, one of their many herbal offerings. The vegan bowl features pickled carrots, cashews, and a miso-ginger dressing. Yum!
Tropicaleo serves vegan food in Birmingham
Tropicaléo takes plant-based offerings to the next level with an extensive menu dedicated to delicious vegan fare. The Puerto Rican restaurant also serves unique and innovative offerings such as jackfruit ‘BBQ’ and green plantain ‘meatballs’.
If you’re heading to Tropicaleo with a meat eater, don’t worry. They also have a full menu for our carnivorous friends. Ordering online makes pickup and delivery as easy as possible.
Go green at Bay Leaf
Bay leaf brings modern Indian cuisine to the Birmingham community. A local favorite with locations in the historic Five Points and along the 280, they make vegan food more accessible than ever.

Vegan dishes at Avondale Common House
Avondale is one of our favorite neighborhoods for bites and sips. Before heading to the brewery, stop Avondale Common House for a few bites without meat.
You wouldn’t even know that some of these dishes are vegan. With hits like the Buffalo Cauliflower, Chimichurri Wrap, Fried Green Tomatoes, and Italian Pasta Salad, you’d better be hungry.
Underground Vegan adds a vegetal twist to favorite classics
As big fans of their food truck, we were delighted to hear about the opening of Underground Vegan at Five Points this year.
The owner, Khalilah Sowell, cooks up classic plant-based dishes, with dishes like their “Chickun Bakun Ranch Club”, crispy poboys and fresh tacos.
Plant-based dessert at Cookie Dough Magic
Cookie dough magic is the confectionery that serves cookie dough with a spoon. They have a vegan (and gluten-free!) Chocolate chip flavor, for everyone to enjoy.
Take out and delivery make this delicious treat even tastier. Have vegan cookie dough delivered right to your sofa!
