Over the past two years, Deliveroo has seen orders for vegan food soar by 330%.
Food delivery company Deliveroo has revealed that since world vegan day two years ago, orders for vegetable dishes on the site increased by an impressive 330 percent.
Not only has the platform seen a huge increase in vegan orders, but it has also seen the number of restaurants serving vegans on the platform increase by 168% over the past year.
Vegan dishes have been so popular on the platform, in fact, that Bristol-based restaurant Oowee Vegan beat competition from restaurants across the UK to be named ‘Restaurant of the Year’ at the first-ever UK Deliveroo Awards.
According to the company, these are the most popular dishes that hungry customers have ordered this month:
PLANT – vegan + Chips from Honest Burgers
Vegatsu (Katsu Curry) by Wagamama
Oowee Vegan Fried Chicken Burger
Greggs Vegan Sausage Roll
The Guac Burger from By CHLOE.
Vegan Pizza Margarita from Pizza Express
The Halo Burger (F) by Halo Burger
In 2018, Deliveroo featured the “dirty vegan burger” as a trend to watch in 2019, and for 2020 it predicts dishes containing imitation meats will be the hottest new vegan category.
In a statement sent to Vegan Food & Living, Joe Groves of Deliveroo commented: “Whether they are flexitarians or fully-fledged vegans, Deliveroo customers are embracing the growing vegan food choices available for delivery.
“No longer resigned to salads alone, Britons love imitation meats, vegan alternatives and the infamous dirty vegan dishes.”
