Jared mentioned in the 4th minute that the copilot will be moving to Open AI o1. Can you confirm what model is the Copilot using and when it will catch-up with ChatGPT? We see a consistent pattern reported by the users, that users get much better response from ChatGPT using the same prompt in both tools. Copilot's Semantic Index should theoretically provide a more relevant answer - why do we see the opposite effect?
- KevinShermanMicrosoftGreat question. On Monday we announced that GPT-4o is now used by Microsoft 365 Copilot. We use a large variety of models and model versions across Copilot, matching model capabilities with the precise needs of each feature. You probably saw our comments at the beginning of Monday's event / blog describing the improvements in speed and quality. Beyond that, you refer to Copilot's semantic index. The semantically indexed Microsoft Graph gives Copilot access to information across a user's life at work -- not just files an documents, but meeting transcripts, chats, etc., in addition to the nodes between this data (i.e. which files to prioritize given your own history). This is a unique capability, and from our experience users find increasing value the more they use it, getting more familiar with the data it can access and how to work with it to get the best responses. Our advice is always to start with the recommended prompts in Copilot Lab to get a good foundation, then build from there.
- Sarah_GilbertCommunity ManagerWelcome to the Microsoft 365 Copilot Ask Microsoft Anything (AMA)! This live hour gives you the opportunity to ask questions directly to the Microsoft team. Please post any questions in a separate, new comment thread on this event.

Since Copilot pages are stored in SharePoint embedded container and we can't, as admins, change owners for a separated user's workspace, the data is at risk of being orphaned. When will the reassign owner/promote member to owner feature for the containers be available?
- dancontosoMicrosoft
Thanks, Chris, for your question. We designed user-owned content to be private by default, allowing users to assemble and reason over their Copilot responses without forced sharing or coauthoring, similar to OneDrive.
User-owned content/containers cannot be permanently reassigned to a new owner. Like OneDrive, these containers are managed with the user account and follow the same cleanup schedule: 30 days active, then soft deleted, and permanently purged 93 days after soft deletion. Admins can recover content during the soft delete period using the SharePoint Admin Center or PowerShell.
We are working on a feature for IT admins to assign additional temporary custodians during the cleanup period. These temporary custodians, like OneDrive workflows, will be able to copy data to a more permanent location, like a shared workspace, if needed. The date for this feature will be communicated via the M365 Public Roadmap. Look for something like 'departed user content workflows for user-owned containers.'
- johnsonteyBrass ContributorFollowing!
- johnsonteyBrass ContributorFor Copilot Agents, what part can Microsoft 365 Copilot do? And what part requires Microsoft Copilot Studio?
- Dan_MITBrass ContributorDitto! Would also like to know how the licensing works with announced Agents.
- ChrisBattyeCopper ContributorWe have evaluated M365 Copilot and cannot justify a wider roll out across the organisation as the identified benefits do not match the high cost. We are therefore considering Teams Premium and would like to know about the key differences between the two Copilot products and whether there is any significant functionality or capabilities we would be missing out on by pursuing the Teams Premium route?
- Graham_LedgerBrass ContributorThe only overlap between Microsoft 365 Copilot and Teams Premium is the Intelligent recap. With Teams Premium there is no way to ask questions to Copilot about the meeting. If you search for "teams premium vs copilot for m365 graphic" there is a good visual comparison that explains the experiences.
- ChrisBattyeCopper ContributorHi Graham - any chance you could reply with the link to the comparison visual as my searches for it have drawn a blank so far?
- ClausjuhlIron ContributorWhat is the ETA for the announced copilot changes in Outlook
- Gabriel_ValdezMicrosoftThe new draft with Copilot experience will start rolling out this month and prioritize my inbox will start rolling out in December in preview.
- ClausjuhlIron ContributorRegarding the Copilot agent feature in SharePoint, is it necessary for both the creator and the user to have an M365 Copilot license or can users with the Copilot EDP use a Copilot that has already been created?
- Rob_NunezMicrosoftHi Claus- For Copilot agents in SharePoint any user licensed for SharePoint can build a Copilot agent. To consume (including testing) the user needs to have a M365 Copilot license, or the tenant must be licensed for Copilot Studio. To interact with the agents would require M365 Copilot or a tenant licensed for Copilot Studio.

- Tony___Copper ContributorHi Sarah, I am just catching up on emails and I see that this has session was yesterday. Is there a replay I can watch?
- JustinClercCopper ContributorI found the replay on LinkedIn, https://www.linkedin.com/events/7236780403867443202/about/
- Dan_MITBrass ContributorHi All, thanks for doing this! Two questions: 1. Could you be more specific about which M365 Copilot services are now actively leveraging the GPT4o model? 2. For many of the new features announced as "Now available" or "Rolling out now" - how long would you expect these features to reach all eligible tenants?
- KevinShermanMicrosoft
As we stated on Monday, GPT-4o is being used in Microsoft 365 Copilot. As to which services use it, we use a combination of models across our services. We take care to match models with the specific feature, picking the model (or model version) that has the characteristics that best map to what users need for a given feature. As for when features will roll out, I'd suggest reviewing our blog post (Microsoft 365 Copilot Wave 2: Pages, Python in Excel, and agents ) as it's got the most up-to-date information.
- David_BlueboxCopper ContributorWe would like to create a custom copilot to help users query a SharePoint library of approved documents (Controlled Documents - policies, procedures, forms, templates, etc.). When my team previously looked into this they said it was limited to only one level of folders. Will Wave 2 allow creation of a custom copilot or agent based on a Library with multiple levels of folders?
- sebastienlevertMicrosoftYes. In a copilot agent (and declarative agent), you will be able to provide the URL to your folder and document within it would all be considered. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-copilot/extensibility/declarative-agent-manifest#items-by-url-object
