About The Distillers
The Distillers came to be when Aussie vocalist Brody Dalle teamed up with guitarist Rose Mazzola, bassist Kim Chi, and drummer Matt Young in L.A. in 1998, nailing together a street-punk sound that resonated with misfit kids in the SoCal scene. They signed to Epitaph imprint Hellcat, releasing a self-titled debut in 2000. After swapping a few band members, the band returned with Sing Sing Death House, which paired gritty tunes with Dalle’s evocatively raspy vocals. The album was released in early 2002; its feminist fight song "Seneca Falls" had already become a hot commodity in the early file-sharing era. The band moved to Sire Records for 2003’s snarling but slick Coral Fang. After an extended hiatus, The Distillers officially disbanded in 2006. Dalle went on to form Spinnerette before launching a solo career.
