Within the One Piece universe, Dracule Mihawk’s unparalleled skills, immense power, and sharp intuition make him a near-unbeatable force. While many characters wield swords in the One Piece world, Mihawk’s abilities stand leagues above the rest, making it clear why Zoro Roronoa aims to claim his title, even though he is far from achieving that feat as of now.

However, how would Mihawk fare if he stepped outside the world of One Piece and faced legendary swordsmen from other universes, like Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach or Guts with the Berserker Armor from Berserk? Let’s delve into these hypothetical matchups, comparing their power dynamics and potential outcomes!

Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains spoilers for Dandadan episode 12.
Dandadan’s season finale shows Taro running across the city, getting trampled and dismantled by a truck and somehow still managing to fix himself up in one night just to meet Hana and they say I have high standards in men. I had a lot of expectations for the episode and to say that it met all of those would be an understatement. In a series that focuses so much on the supernatural and science fiction, the humanistic side of the characters stands out almost by default.

The episode manages to use the supernatural as a tool for its story rather than the brunt of it. Not everything needs to be explained and they don’t waste their time in explaining it either. How Taro and Hana can talk or even why the former can function like...

Berserk is a tale full of betrayal beyond justified, questionable morality, and the lengths at which power can destroy the world. Kentaro Miura has created the blueprint of dark epic fantasy anime that nobody can truly surpass in the industry unless they want to go beyond the boundaries the mangaka went. It’s a brutal story that isn’t for the faint of heart.
Griffith, the main antagonist of Berserk, evolves into a power-hungry leader who would sacrifice anyone for his cause. His charisma and vision of a Utopia allow him to draw in anybody, including the protagonist, Guts. However, not everyone was so charmed by his efforts after seeing his true colors.

Rickert is an unassuming character who doesn’t stand out until the Band of Falcon’s demise at the hands of Griffith which angers him to new levels.

Kentaro Miura’s Berserk has featured a vast array of villains who have proved their worth within the narrative, but none of them can reach the level of the God Hand. The God Hand is probably the strongest and most dangerous band of villains in the series, and almost every encounter that Guts had with them has resulted in him getting defeated and brutally injured.
The God Hand | Credit: Dark Horse
Guts has struggled against the God Hand every time, but it is extremely important for him to defeat them, majorly because of Griffith being a part of the group and what he did to enter the God Hand. However, the only problem is that even with his entire strength, it won’t be easy for him to take down the demonically powerful God Hand in Berserk.
While there have been multiple theories around the internet about how Guts can defeat them,...

With the Shonen genre being the reigning king amongst anime and manga communities, the Shojo genre goes largely undermined. Still, many Shojo titles have cracked into mass popularity. And if one manga deserves a special mention, it’s Kamisama Kiss or Kamisama Hajimemashita.
Despite having debuted more than 15 years ago, the series has still maintained a certain level of popularity amongst Shojo enthusiasts. If you are a romance fan, it is likely to be in your top 3 list. If it isn’t, redo your list.

The anime immerses viewers in the brutal world of Vikings, offering a thrilling and action-packed experience. After the immense success of Season 1, with dramatizations of historic figures crossing paths across continents, it’s easy to feel that the second season scales down in comparison.
But that’s far from the complete picture. While Season 1 focuses on teenage Thorfinn’s quest for revenge, Season 2 shifts its focus to his growth into adulthood, as he embarks on a journey to find peace and escape the cycle of violence.

Kentaro Miura’s Berserk employs Guts in the role of the protagonist, and his character development throughout the series is one of the main reasons why Berserk has such a cult following. Being the central character in the story, Guts goes through a lot of struggle and pain to find some solace in life, but it only happens after he slays some of the most dangerous monsters.

Are Anime Reboots Necessary? Exploring Both Sides - Main Image
One of the debates that anime fans have right now is whether reboots are necessary, especially for those who are following up on the originals that are considered to be classics.

Though the character has limited appearances till now, it did not stop him from leaving a lasting impact on the fans of the franchise. His fame as a character is undeniable, and it was only after the 2018 film, Dragon Ball Super: Broly, that he became canon to the series.
Despite the Berserk Saiyan being so popular, he has received limited screen time, where he was often put on the sidelines. Nevertheless, the series must focus on him, where he should be training alongside Goten, where both receive major character development. Thus elevating the series and adding the popularity of the two characters.

The mangaka revealed the inspirations behind his magnum opus. Surprisingly, it isn’t Naruto or One Piece that inspired the series. On the contrary, two iconic mangas influenced Iwaaki’s masterpiece.
What’s even more interesting is that the series borders on the dark and gore aspects through its body horror. It is this aspect that sets it apart from other thriller and horror series.

If you’ve watched any anime edits on TikTok over the past few years, then it’s highly likely you’ve heard a song by Nxcre or his latest project, Nxcre & The Villains. His latest viral hit, “Usurper” has been taking over the social sphere for the Amv old heads. As you can imagine, this is the dream scenario for Nxcre, whose artistic vision was shaped by his love of anime. I had the chance to talk about his full circle anime moments, his Berserk -inspired music video, and the unexpected emotional resonance of Assassination Classroom . I'd love to hear how your anime journey started. Nxcre : Oh, man, it was since I was like a little kid. I remember watching as early as I can remember, like Yu-Gi-Oh! and Naruto and even Dragon Ball . I was infatuated with that type of stuff. Oh, and Inuyasha back in the day as well.

Sword Art Online’s Popularity Proved to be a Double-Edged Sword and Became the Bane of its Existence
Sword Art Online is that one show Isekai fans wish it never existed and this is even considering some of the trashy ones that come out every season. In terms of general popularity, it started out quite well, with Season 1 ranking high on MyAnimeList compared to its sequels. The plot was engaging, the concept was new, the animation was pretty good and the set-up for Season 2 got many fans eagerly awaiting it.
The main cast from Sword Art Online Season 1 | Credits: Studio A-1 Pictures
However, the downfall of Sword Art Online was when it subverted people’s expectations but in a bad way. According to critics, the story deviated from the horrors of living in a game-like world to literally overpowering Kirito more than Guts from Berserk. Then it ended up becoming a Harem show where the focus was all about the main character and the girls falling for him.

Being an artist means drawing influence from your favorite artists to create your own style, and being a mangaka is no different. Before a mangaka can serialize their work, tons of research goes into precedents set by famous works as well as the best art styles in the field, and Yuki Tabata is no different.
Black Clover is Yuki Tabata’s masterpiece, but it is also an amalgamation of everything that has inspired the author. And the list includes everything: from the manga he read in his childhood, to the ones he had to compete with as rivals.

"Venom: The Last Dance" looks like it will fulfill a tease going back to the 2018 original: a Symbiote invasion of Earth. Venom (Tom Hardy) told his host Eddie Brock (also Hardy) a bit about his homeworld, but viewers still haven't gotten a glimpse of planet Klyntar themselves.
The third "Venom" movie will also, it appears, go back to the very beginnings of the Symbiote race: their malevolent creator, the Marvel villain Knull, appears briefly in the film's trailer. Knull's cameo has been kept shrouded in mystery. "The Last Dance" director Kelly Marcel has promised this is only the beginning, so the going bet right now is that Knull will likely be the villain of Tom Holland's fourth "Spider-Man" film, which will finally bring Spidey and Venom together again onscreen. (But this remains unconfirmed for the moment.)

Horror both is and isn’t one of my favorite genres. I say “isn’t” because I scare easily, but if that’s the case, how can horror also be a genre I love? Simple. I love good storytelling, and horror is full of some fantastic narratives. One of my favorite things about the horror genre is how it isn’t afraid to tackle some pretty distressful emotions. Characters will face feelings they don’t always want to admit to, but horror pushes them forward — whether they’re prepared for it or not. Such is the case with Gigi Murakami, a manga artist whose work, Resenter , approaches resentment in such a uniquely haunting way that I found myself saying, “Wow... I don’t want to admit how much I relate to this.” I mean, who wants to admit to feeling resentment, of all things? Especially toward loved ones? But that...

The protagonist of One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy, has been deemed by many as a simple and stupid character who does not care for much and speaks whatever is on his mind. He is believed to be the peak representation of the idiot protagonist trope that is still quite trending in the anime and manga industry. However, unlike other manga creators, Eiichiro Oda had a plan behind it.

The terror of being trapped in a world of spirals comes to life in Junji Ito’s Uzumaki on the big screen. Uzumaki is one of the finest horror masterpieces by Junji Ito. Furthermore, it is also one of his celebrated and popular manga. Naturally, several fans were excited about the dark horror series with the black-and-white depiction of the narrative.
Despite Episode 1’s immense success, disappointment seems to have settled in already, with the latest release of Episode 2. Horror anime fans got perhaps the biggest scare of all with Uzumaki‘s Episode 2 mainly due to a massive drop in animation quality. While many fans appreciated the visuals, the fast-paced nature poses a caveat, which may become a pitfall for the author’s masterpiece.

The recent spike in One Piece’s popularity is extraordinary. From fans to renowned figures of the anime industry like Takehiko Inoue and Yoshiyuki Tomino, many sing praises for Eiichiro Oda’s exceptional skills as a mangaka. The Shonen genre has always been met with numerous criticisms for its portrayal of female characters. In many long-running Shonen series, female characters are often demoted to the roles of damsels in distress, love interests, or sources of fanservice. While series like One Piece and Naruto have their own iconic female characters, they are rarely given the same level of importance compared to their male counterparts. However, one of the notable series that defies this conventional notion is Kentaro Miura’s Berserk.

Ever since Gorō Taniguchi’s Code Geass came out in 2006, anime fans have found an uncanny resemblance between the series and the prominent series Mobile Suit Gundam by Yoshiyuki Tomino that started in 1979. Be it the characters of the series or the narrative, Code Geass feels like it has drawn inspiration from the science fiction series and followed in similar footsteps.

However, last year Taniguchi made a major revelation and put an end to the discourse about Code Geass and Gundam’s similarities. He also revealed the difference between Lelouch and Amuro’s characters.

Anime Shonen protagonists often act as role models to many fans by inspiring them with their courage, determination, and never-give-up attitudes. Dragon Ball‘s Goku, Naruto Uzumaki from Naruto, and Luffy from One Piece are some of the prominent examples of this. Yet, while these characters are celebrated for their strength and resolve, there’s one character who transcends them in terms of life lessons: Guts from Berserk.

While I do believe that the sexual violence can be a little excessive to the point where it can be uncomfortable for newcomers, diving into Berserk‘s mature themes reveals why it’s a top manga recommendation, including mine. The themes and characterisations within Berserk are so powerful that the manga can drastically change a person’s outlook on life.
If you are a Berserk fan like me and are seeking for some violent theme anime, you will find some recommendation below.

From One Piece to Bleach, most anime are jumping on the bandwagon of live-action adaptations. Kentaro Miura wished for his series’ live-action adaptation. However, with his untimely and sudden death, this remained unfulfilled. The mangaka pictured Guillermo Del Toro as the perfect director to recreate Berserk.

However, there has been no confirmation of a live-action movie so far. While Toro hasn’t made an official statement, there might be an alternative. Although it may not live up to Miura’s wish, Quentin Tarantino could direct the movie. Furthermore, the acclaimed director would notch up the adaptation.
Quentin Tarantino would bring out the explicit and dark nature of Berserk through his direction.
Quentin Tarantino is one of the most celebrated directors in Hollywood. His notable works include Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained, and Kill Bill. His movies outline blood, gore, and violence perfectly.

The imaginations that form the universe of One Piece are a heaven-sent dream for ship lovers. Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus can never be forgotten, with all the boundless voyages of the Straw Hat Pirates across the seven seas. However, in the darker shores of the manga industry, Kentaro Miura quietly kept drawing some of the most arduously crafted ship designs in the medium.

With the spooky sails of Ghost Ship, the Vandimion’s massive hull vessels, Berserk’s detail knows no bounds. Thus, the question arises if Berserk truly mastered its art better than One Piece with its insanely detailed naval designs.

Since the release of its anime adaptation, Tokyo Ghoul has always been a subject of controversy. Despite being a beloved manga series, the anime adaptation fell short of capturing the emotional depth and story complexity of Sui Ishida’s original work.
The deviation from the source material, rushed plotlines, and lack of character development left fans disappointed, especially when compared to series like One Piece, which has received continuous care and faithful adaptations over the years.

However, recently a particular panel from the Tokyo Ghoul: re manga has resurfaced within the fandom for its gruesome and devastating scene. This panel from chapter 143 serves as a powerful testament to why this series deserves a second chance.
