Canadian actor-brothers Shamier Anderson (John Wick 4) and Stephan James (If Beale Street Could Talk) had their stars unveiled on Scarborough’s Walk of Fame. The men were raised in the marginalized Toronto community by a single mother who emigrated to Canada from Jamaica.
“It’s really humbling and flattering to receive something like this in my hometown, at a mall where I grew up, where I shopped, it’s pretty cool,” Anderson told The Hollywood Reporter.
The local Walk of Fame honor for the fast-rising Hollywood stars is more than an exercise in collective positive thinking for an inner-city neighborhood that earlier brought to the world celebrities like Mike Myers, Jim Carrey and The Weeknd.
The brothers are at work via their Bay Mills Studios production banner — named after the community housing project they grew up in Scarborough — on a landmark TV drama set in the inner-city community that is their home away from Hollywood.

The Flight Attendant will not be returning for a third season. The show, which was originally set as a limited series, aired two seasons on Max, with the second season ending in May 2022.
The move follows comments from star and executive producer Kaley Cuoco after the second season that the “plane had landed.” “I just kind of feel like we just ended,” she told People at the time.
The first season, which premiered in November 2020, followed Cuoco’s alcoholic, globe-trotting flight attendant Cassie Bowden who became embroiled in an espionage plot following her affair with a first class passenger, who winds up murdered after their night together.
The second season saw Bowden return with a fresh start in Los Angeles, sober and moonlighting as a CIA asset in her spare time. But when an overseas assignment leads her to inadvertently witness a murder, she becomes entangled in another international intrigue.

On Friday night, Oprah Winfrey hosted a swanky celebration for “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” executive producer and star David Oyelowo at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood.
Photographers lined the driveway of the iconic hotel while a who’s who of Hollywood — including Gayle King, Lupita Nyong’o, Niecy Nash-Betts and the cast of the hit Paramount+ series — posed in front of a black and gold backdrop. Inside the luxurious venue, even more stars — like Macro chief Charles D. King, Yvonne Orji, O-t Fagbenle, Anna Diop, Edwina Findley, Mykelti Williamson, Mo McRae, Eugene Ashe, Deon and Roxanne Taylor — mixed and mingled as the party took over the whole of the bar and pool area on a windy, yet starry night in Los Angeles. AT&T and Tribeca have chosen “Color Book” as the winner of the 2023 AT&T Presents: Untold Stories event. Writer/director David Fortune and producer Kiah Clingman competed amongst four other finalists to win $1 million and receive year-round mentorship to produce their feature film.
The film concerns a devoted father learning to raise his son — who has Down Syndrome — following the passing of the family matriarch. While adjusting to their new reality, the duo embark on a journey through Metro Atlanta to attend their first baseball game. The Atlanta-set picture is like Fortune’s prior films in that it finds power in normalizing the themes of compassion and intimacy set in inner-city communities.

Tige Charity found herself unemployed from an insurance department job during the late-2000s recession. Looking to find a new sense of purpose, she began thinking about a visit she’d once made to a girls group home with her husband, actor Antonio D. In 2009, Tige decided to create Kids in the Spotlight (Kits), a nonprofit that helps empower foster youth through filmmaking. Kits program participants write, direct, shoot, cast and act in projects alongside mentors from the film world. “You give them the arts, create a platform for them to be seen, heard, validated and celebrated,” says Tige.

If anyone embodies Drake’s song “Started From the Bottom,” Shamier Anderson, a fellow Canadian, does. “I’ve been grinding for a minute from Toronto,” says the actor, who grew up in Scarborough, a marginalized district with three brothers and their single mom, a Jamaican immigrant. “My mother didn’t accept the labels that we had very little hope, very little promise. This review originally ran June 12, 2022, in conjunction with the film’s world premiere at the Tribeca Festival.
Over the last five years, society has gotten a crash course in Hollywood sexism. With Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor’s groundbreaking reporting on Harvey Weinstein came countless other stories of women’s mistreatment at the hands of producers, directors and even fellow actors.
Some of the most arresting stories along these lines come from crew members, like stunt coordinators who work on rape scenes. In her new documentary “Body Parts,” Kristy Guevara-Flanagan interviews actors, film and TV creators, and crew members who work behind the scenes to put sex onscreen.
Though the film overwhelmingly focuses on big names like Joey Soloway and Rose McGowan, its strongest material comes from accounts by less glitzy experts: body doubles, scholars, intimacy coordinators and one remorseful visual effects artist.
The film’s thesis is nothing new:...

The directorial debut from actor Mo McRae isn’t a traditional thriller about racism. In fact, the opening scene of A Lot of Nothing is more dramatic than it is exciting or suspenseful. Here the two main characters, affluent and successful couple James and Vanessa (Y’Ian Noel and Cleopatra Coleman), are watching an evening news segment about a local police incident; a Black child was reportedly killed by a white officer. The protagonists then enter a heated argument — really just verbal foreplay set to funky background music — after realizing the cop in question is their neighbor Brian (Justin Hartley).
A Lot of Nothing is described as a satirical thriller, but the longer the movie goes on, that description becomes less and less accurate. The closest thing to satire occurs when James and Vanessa go to their respective jobs the next day; he’s a corporate lawyer and she works in finances.

Mo McRae’s face may be more recognizable than his name. As an actor for more than 20 years with over 60 credits and counting he’s worked steadily, appearing on TV and in film in such roles as Benjamin Berry in “The Flight Attendant,” Blip Sanders on the short-lived “Pitch,” and Gus Henderson in “Den of Thieves.” Now he’s moved behind the camera as the co-writer and director of “A Lot of Nothing,” his feature film debut.
Officially, the film is about an uber-successful Black married couple whose perfect lives are knocked off kilter when they learn via the evening news that their cop neighbor, who is white, has killed a kid. In a time where the police killings of Tyre Nichols in Memphis and George Floyd in Minneapolis are front of mind, they assume that the victim is Black and decide to get answers. And that’s when everything goes wrong.
Here’s a first look at the brand new trailer for A Lot Of Nothing.
The film is the directorial debut of actor/director Mo McRae. Executive produced by two-time Emmy and Golden Globe nominee David Oyelowo(The Water Man) and stars Y’Ian Noel (Insecure), Cleopatra Coleman (The Last Man on Earth), Lex Scott Davis (Rebel) Shamier Anderson (Invasion) and Justin Hartley (This Is Us) .
James (Noel) and Vanessa (Coleman) seem to be the perfect couple – happily married, successful, and comfortable. In a state of shock, and with opposing viewpoints on how to address the issue, they embark on a highly combustible journey to ‘do something’ about it. The last few years have been nothing short of historic. From a pandemic that has claimed the lives of millions of people and refuses to subsist to political instability and uprising across the entire world, this era is nothing short of a turning point. One of the topics at the forefront of this era is police brutality, spurring revolts from Los Angeles to Lagos. While discussion of police brutality and the mostly performative reaction from officials is ubiquitous, “A Lot of Nothing” asks: What if the killer cop lived next door to you?

"What are we gonna do?!" Rlje has revealed a trailer for a thriller titled A Lot of Nothing, marking the feature directorial debut of actor Mo McRae. Arriving in theaters and on VOD to watch in February. James and Vanessa are ostensibly the perfect married couple – beautiful, successful, and smart. Their lives spiral out of control when they decide to seek justice against a neighbor they saw commit a crime on the evening news. Starring Y'lan Noel, Cleopatra Coleman, Justin Hartley, Shamier Anderson, and Lex Scott Davis. "A Lot of Nothing acts as a funhouse mirror to reflect the best and worst of humanity - and how our experiences of race, class, family, fear, love, and happiness drive our choices today. Mo McRae dazzles in his feature directorial debut, with a keen visual eye and a fresh, compelling voice." Reminds me of Nate Parker's film American Skin, a very similar plot,...

Chicago – Actor and director Mo McRae brought his debut feature film, “A Lot of Nothing” to the 58th Chicago International Film Festival (Ciff) on October 15th, 2022, and took a walk down the Red Carpet.
James and Vanessa (Y’lan Noel and Cleopatra Coleman) are the perfect married couple, but when the latest fatal police shooting involving an unarmed youth in their community was committed by their neighbor, a white policeman, they are shaken from their upper-middle-class complacency and driven to take action. Following in the footsteps of recent social satires “Get Out” and “Sorry to Bother You,” this “A Lot of Nothing” artfully skewers our assumptions about class, race, and justice.

This article contains spoilers for The Flight Attendant finale.
HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant ended its second season with a tinnitus-triggering explosion, but that wasn’t the biggest showdown of the episode for Cassandra Bowden (Kaley Cuoco), who has spent all season fighting various versions of herself, from someone impersonating her across the world to the worst parts of her personality manifesting inside her mind palace. After eight episodes of following doppelgängers in blonde wigs, it turns out they were red herrings—the real threats came from the natural blondes.
Who’s Trying to Frame (and Kill) Cassie?
The penultimate episode, “No Exit,” knocked both of Cassie’s bewigged doubles off the suspect list. At the pier, Annie (Zosia Mamet) and Max (Deniz Akdeniz) tased Gabrielle (Callie Hernandez) and Esteban (J.J. Soria) Diaz, while Cassie wound up on the ferris wheel with fellow flight attendant Grace St. James...

The Flight Attendant Season 2 premieres Thursday, April 21, on HBO Max.
TV Fanatic got the chance to speak with the cast and showrunners ahead of the highly-anticipated premiere.
As previously reported in our Flight Attendant Season 2 review, Cassie (Kaley Cuoco) is in a much different place when we pick back up.
"When we meet Cassie at the top of season two, she appears to be an entirely new Cassie. She's a year into her sobriety," teases co-showrunner Natalie Chaidez.
"In fact, she has matching appliances. She does yoga. She has a super hot perfect boyfriend, so we were definitely making a choice to set where she is at the beginning of the season so that we could sort of unravel it and see what was beneath the veneer and peel away."
Chaidez says that this makes for a very different show because it highlights that Cassie is making better choices.

The Flight Attendant got off the ground running in 2020, taking viewers on a wild ride that featured thrills, jokes, and everything you'd expect from a comedy-drama about a flight attendant caught up in a murder.
The renewal for The Flight Attendant Season 2 came as a huge surprise, primarily because of the self-contained nature of The Flight Attendant Season 1.
Fast-forward almost two years, and The Flight Attendant Season 2 is almost ready for take-off.
Six episodes were screened for critics in advance of the premiere, and while I can't deny there are more twists than before, they water it down to the point that the narrative feels muddled instead of compelling.
When we pick up with Cassie, she's moonlighting as a CIA agent while still working as a flight attendant, which in theory, should raise the stakes considerably.
Unfortunately, the plot moves in many bizarre directions that make it extremely difficult to connect with our heroine.

The pressure forces Cassie to confide in her closest friends about her new gig. As she investigates the slaying, she also realizes the killer might be more familiar than she had initially thought when she’s confronted by a room full of her doppelgängers.
Eventually, the revelations send her into a spiral. “I’m one tiny accident away from a complete collapse,” she admits.
Cuoco returns to the series alongside Zosia Mamet, Griffin Matthews, Deniz Akdeniz and Rosie Perez.

Kaley Cuoco’s Cassie Bowden may be sober, but she’s still getting into all kinds of trouble in the first trailer for “The Flight Attendant” Season 2.
HBO Max debuted an action-packed teaser for the upcoming second season on Thursday along with release date and episode schedule details. The eight-episode Season 2 premieres with two new episodes on April 28, followed by a new episode every week until the finale on May 26, all of which will be available exclusively on HBO Max.
After the wild events of Season 1, which followed Cuoco’s alcoholic flight attendant on a mission to find a murderer after she woke up next to a dead body with no memory of how she got there, Season 2 picks up a year later, when Cassie is sober and moonlighting as a CIA asset, which sets her up for her next adventure: when she witnesses a murder while on an overseas assignment,...

The Flight Attendant Season 2 will touch down earlier than planned.
Initially set for a summer launch, the Kaley Cuoco-led thriller will return to HBO Max Thursday, April 21.
The streamer also revealed that two episodes will bow on the premiere date, followed by one new episode a week after that, leading up to its finale on May 26.
This is a different rollout strategy from The Flight Attendant Season 1, which got a three-episode launch, followed by two episodes a week.
The Flight Attendant Season 2 focuses on Cassie “living her best sober life in Los Angeles while moonlighting as a CIA asset in her spare time,” according to the official description.
“But when an overseas assignment leads her to inadvertently witness a murder, she becomes entangled in another international intrigue.”
We will also meet Cassie's mother, played by Sharon Stone on the new episodes.
