TenneT and Rethinking Energy proudly present: The Overhead Line Inspection Data Challenge TenneT is committed to help drive the energy transition and accelerate the pace at which we connect new customers. That is why we are on a mission to get more transport capacity out of our existing assets while keeping them safe and healthy. In the light of this mission, we have launched The Overhead Line Inspection Data Challenge on the Rethinking Energy platform. Through this challenge we invite tech companies to propose cutting-edge innovations that harness the data gathered through smart inspections on our overhead transmission lines. Our goal is to leverage new insights to enable data-driven decisions in areas of congestion management, maintenance execution, environment monitoring and optimal resource allocation. We are looking for solutions that enable us to: -Increase transport capacity of the existing grid -Make better grid expansion decisions -Prolong the lifetime of our assets -Keep our assets and their environments safe -Optimize our resource allocation Are you interested, or do you know the right fit to the challenge? Transforming the work on our energy grid: insights from four months of research We embarked on a mission to identify solutions to reduce emissions and physical strain when laying LV/MV grids. This not only benefits the environment and workers, but also contributes to a swift energy transition through minimizing delays due to manpower shortages or emission constraints! Our search for solutions spanned various countries, industries, and international databases, ultimately guiding us to the most promising solutions, categorized into three main areas for each topic, as illustrated in the infographics (in Dutch). This journey was not without its challenges. The Netherlands is relatively advanced in these areas, making it difficult to find improvements. Additionally, it was often tough to engage people in discussions about their organizational approaches, as these topics are seen as not yet well-regulated or there was a perception of lagging behind. Many organizations still seem to be in a state of 'conscious incompetence.' While not ideal, also hopeful in a way! These provide more details on the key accelerators and barriers to innovation we encountered, the problem context, an extensive solutions landscape, and over 50 one-pagers with solutions.
