Revolutionizing textile-to-textile recycling technology to enable the fashion & textile industry to shift to circularity
Over ons
Imagine a world where end-of-life textiles are diverted from landfill mountains and transformed into valuable, sustainable Next-Gen materials. This is our vision here at RE&UP. Simply put, we're a groundbreaking Circulartech venture that is re-shaping the traditional textile recycling paradigm. RE&UP Technologies (RE&UP) is not just a company; it's a revolution. Our innovative approach is pushing the fashion industry towards a circular model, capitalizing on the increasing demand for recycled fibers fuelled by new regulations and the fluctuating availability of traditional raw materials. In a field where recycling has so far been limited to pure compositions on a small scale, RE&UP stands out. As a feedstock agnostic solution, our proprietary technology can process a wide range of textile waste, including cotton and polyester and particularly excelling in recycling polycotton waste. This advanced method turns textile waste into Next-Gen Cotton and Next-Gen Polyester at scale. The result? High-quality, durable, and traceable Next-Gen raw materials that are competitive in cost and comparable in terms of performance and quality with existing recycled and virgin fibers. Rooted in the rich textile legacy of our parent company, SANKO, which boasts over 330 patents and a century of experience, RE&UP is headquartered in Europe and already operational in Turkey. Currently, we're recycling 80,000 tons of textile waste annually, with plans to increase capacity to 200,000 tons by 2024/2025 and a bold goal of reaching over 1 million tons globally by 2030. RE&UP is more than a tech company; it's a guiding light for a sustainable future, leading the charge in the battle against textile waste.

RE&UP was proud to join the JRC ESPR Consultation last week, to discuss the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). As part of our commitment to circular textiles, we brought our expertise to the table, focusing on: - Recycling at scale: JRC’s assessment identified promising pathways for wool blends but highlighted challenges for polycotton. We demonstrated RE&UP’s ability to recycle at scale with existing facilities, showing that circular solutions are achievable today. - Inclusive recycled content: We advocated for the inclusion of all textile waste, not just post-consumer waste, in ESPR criteria. Recycling post-industrial waste is essential for closing the loop, and at RE&UP, we focus on textile-to-textile solutions – not bottle-originated polyester. - Recognizing recycled materials: We highlighted the need for recycled raw materials to feature in best-case LCA/LCC scenarios. Products with recycled content are already on the market, and their role in a circular future must be acknowledged. As ESPR helps shape the textile industry, RE&UP remains committed to advancing scalable solutions and driving circularity. What are your thoughts on ESPR’s impact?

Big challenges call for big solutions. When it comes to textile recycling, RE&UP stands out for its capacity and commitment to scaling up. By doubling down on innovative recycling practices, we’re positioned to make a substantial positive impact on the textile waste crisis. Let's hear our Chairman's, Fatih Konukoglu, words as he shares his point of view with Aslı Kurbay from Boston Consulting Group (BCG). #ClimateWeekNYC #ReAndUpTechnologies #recycling #recyclingtechnology #sustainability #technology #circulareconomy

We are thrilled to announce that our case study is featured in the Upstream Circularity Playbook, developed by Global Fashion Agenda and supported by the H&M Foundation and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. As the report highlights, forward-thinking companies – like RE&UP – are already testing, implementing, and scaling circular practices in collaboration with partners throughout the value chain, and we could not be any more grateful to have our work recognized by a third party like GFA. The Playbook – available in six languages – provides a clear, actionable roadmap for scaling circularity practices in garment manufacturing regions by transforming post-industrial textile waste into valuable resources. “To address the textile waste problem, we need to scale and we need to scale fast”. Dennis Evers, RE&UP Board Member – during NY Climate week – discussed how RE&UP is prepared to lead the way, with the capacity to scale beyond 1 million tons of recycled textiles annually. If we don’t act now at a big scale, there is no getting rid of this problem, hence RE&UP’s plans are already in motion to build factories in Europe, and expand into the Middle East, Asia, and the US. #ClimateWeekNYC #ReAndUpTechnologies #recycling #recyclingtechnology #sustainability #technology #circulareconomy
