🌍 Bridging Gaps in Stroke Care with Telestroke Networks Stroke is a leading cause of disability and death, yet access to treatment varies widely. A new study by Tunkl et al. in the 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘑𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦 highlights the potential of telestroke networks to reduce these disparities. 📊 Key Points: - Nearly 70% of 254 identified telestroke networks are in high-income countries, leaving many low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) underserved. - 58 countries have no telestroke services—a stark reminder of the gaps in access. - Encouragingly, most new networks established in the past three years are in LMICs, signalling closing gaps in healthcare.
