On this #InternationalHumanRightsDay, we want to put the spotlight on the work of our partners in #Ukraine, who continue to demonstrate the powerful impact of community resilience in their ongoing fight for #democracy and #humanrights. 🚨 Supporting Resilience in the Face of War: Bilozerka Center for Regional Development The Bilozerka Center for Regional Development is a pillar for citizen engagement and anti-corruption in Ukraine’s Kherson region. Following Russia’s full scale invasion of Ukraine, and in particular the devastating Kakhovka Dam collapse that caused flooding in the region, the Bilozerka Center adapted swiftly. Today, on #InternationalAntiCorruptionDay, The Coalition against SLAPPs in Europe (CASE) and The Daphne Caruana Galizia Foundation have published a new "Report on SLAPPs in Europe: Mapping Trends and Cases". 🔎 The report finds that "the majority of cases relate to #corruption or environmental issues". For the first time since the CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation Monitor began tracking the state of #civicspace, the Netherlands’ rating has been downgraded from open to narrowed. 🚨 Supporting Resilience in the Face of War: Feminist Workshop Lviv’s Feminist Workshop advocates for LGBTQI+ rights, gender equality, and fights discrimination. Amid the ongoing war, they’ve expanded support by providing shelters for women in need across Ukraine. With our project’s help, they upgraded equipment to boost efficiency and enhanced security measures to protect their team during these challenging times.
