Last week, our colleagues Jan Reier Arends, Robert-Jean Dupuis and Arnoud van den Bos attended JR Shipping's Crew Conference in partnership with Marlow Navigation in Manila, Philippines. We look back on a great week, in which commitment, sustainability and cooperation were central but also asked our colleagues to actively think along with organisational developments and areas of concern. The involvement of our crew was great. In particular, we also reflected on our colleagues who have been involved with our shipping group for a long time. At JR Shipping Group we recognise that our greatest asset is our people! Human capital, identified as a key opportunity during our materiality process, plays a crucial role in driving our success. We are proud to have such a large group of colleagues who are closely involved and responsible for our day-to-day business operations. Let's commit together to sustainability in short sea shipping! We are proud to publish our second Sustainability Report! This puts us at the forefront of the transition to a more sustainable future, ahead of the legal obligations that come into force in 2026. For us, ESG is not an obligation, but an opportunity. Opportunities in several ways; Environment: We have taken concrete steps to reduce our environmental footprint. From research into biofuel as an alternative fuel to innovative adaptation projects for our vessels, we are determined to minimize our impact on the environment. Social: We invest in our people and create an inclusive and safe working environment. We are grateful for the commitment of all our employees, who have helped us prepare this report and inspire us to improve. Governance: Transparency and responsible decision-making are crucial to us. We have strengthened our governance structures to ensure that ethical choices and social responsibility are at the core of our business activities. Although we do not yet meet all ESG requirements, steps have been taken and lessons learned. Our report provides valuable insights and highlights our commitment to sustainability. Celebrating the 500th voyage of MV Energizer with Unifeeder!🎉 We are excited to share that this Saturday morning, our container feeder vessel MV Energizer, will set sail for her 500th voyage with Unifeeder! She will depart Rotterdam for Oslo, which is a well-known route for her, in order to reach this incredible milestone. With a network of specialists, knowledge and expertise are brought together. We are honoured to be the first shipping company that will install remanufactured parts on an operational vessel. Later this year, container feeder vessel MV Elysee (charter name: OOCL Rauma) will enter the dock for the installation of a reconditioned bow thruster. Curious? The operation of our container feeder and offshore service met quality and safety standards and was profitable. This inspires confidence in the chosen course: 𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘢 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨. This course focuses on making our vessels and operations even more sustainable. JR Shipping Group is committed to sustainability in short sea shipping, with a keen eye for mutual opportunities and earning perspectives. Much progress has been made in 2023, which does not alter the fact that together we still have a challenging road ahead. Looking at the first part of 2024, we can conclude that the prospects for both the container feeder and offshore wind markets are good. JR Shipping Group remains committed to a solid performance at sea, to growth and cooperation, and to taking relevant steps towards sustainability in short sea shipping. We prefer to do this together.
