Each December, the UK team nominates its favourite charity as part of the Annual Festive Charity Donation drive. This year 14 charities were championed, each very deserved causes because of the lives they try to change for the better on a daily basis. Everyone in the office was then asked to choose and this year Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) Charity received the most votes. GOSH helps give seriously ill children the best chance, and the best childhoods. In previous years the donation was £2,500 but as the London office celebrated its 15-year anniversary this year, they added a further £1,500 - £100 per year of existence. We hope GOSH can put the £4,000 to good use! #forthechallenge #charity #donation

  • 2024 has brought significant decisions and regulatory developments that have impacted the #CMA’s regulatory powers, as well as landmark judgments in the UK regarding the calculation of damages in competition claims. In this 'Year in Review,' we reflect on how these and other developments in the enforcement of #CompetitionLaw within digital markets, the sports sector and the pharmaceutical industry have shaped the regulatory and legal landscape. Looking ahead to 2025, we anticipate increased enforcement action in #digitalmarkets, as well as the expansion of public and private enforcement of competition law into newer territories, including sports, labour market law and the rapidly developing field of #AI. Enjoy reading our final Year in Review for 2024. We wish you and your team a great Festive Season and a Happy and Healthy New Year! https://lnkd.in/ey87VE9v

GCR describes our ‘market-leading’ team and highlights Hausfeld’s position as the undisputed leader in Antitrust/Competition, also recognising it is the most Lexology Index nominated team in both Europe and the US with some of the most experienced plaintiff lawyers. https://lnkd.in/efyKr5gV #competition #antitrust #forthechallenge

  • The UK's #CollectiveActions regime continued its growth in 2024, with new competition claims filed across diverse markets, including in respect of Big Tech, PC games, salmon production, performing right royalties and water services. A significant milestone was achieved with the Le Patourel v. BT case being the first #CollectiveProceeding to go to trial, and the Competition Appeal Tribunal approving its first settlement and distribution scheme. In this 'Year in Review', we examine how the Tribunal exercised its gatekeeping function in response to defendants' challenges at the certification stage and highlight several key themes emerging from the Tribunal's jurisprudence. Lastly, looking ahead to 2025, we foresee another landmark year with new #CPO judgments, as well as a number of collectives proceeding to trial, including three of Hausfeld’s cases, which will bring further developments and maturity to the regime. • Fantastic news for our Competition Disputes Resolution team in London as Daniel Hunt is set to join what we believe to be the largest dedicated claimant Competition Disputes team in Europe on 6 January 2025. He brings with him a wealth of competition litigation experience, having acted in the English Courts, including the Competition Appeal Tribunal, High Court, and Court of Appeal, as well as in the European Courts at first instance and on appeals. Daniel Hunt explains that he is: “…excited to join Hausfeld at a time when there is such momentum behind competition disputes in the UK and across the EU ... Hausfeld will continue to lead the way in follow-on and stand-alone competition damages actions, and I could not pass up the opportunity to contribute to such a talented and dedicated team.” https://lnkd.in/eQYUrZ3A

  • In the latest episode of our #CollectiveCast, Michael Zymler is joined by Lesley Hannah and Luke Streatfeild to discuss recent collective proceedings in the Competition Appeals Tribunal, focusing in particular on the 𝘒𝘦𝘯𝘵 and 𝘌𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘴 proceedings against Apple. They explore the similarities and differences between the two proceedings, address the timetabling issues that arose, and consider the Tribunal’s ruling that the cases should proceed independently of one another.
