With my daughter behind the steering wheel during our #roadtrip, I can do some sightseeiing (and think about work) as we passed one of the most important places in the European maritime history; #Mannheim The ‘declaration of Mannheim’ was first signed on the 17th of October in 1868, with a purpose to enable free transport of goods over the river Rhine, under the condition that all #guidelines and #rules, in the #declaration, are followed and respected. On the 17th of October 2018, exactly 150 years after the initial declaration, a revision was made, in which the #CCNR (Central Commission for the Navigation of the Rhine (CCNR)) agreed on a 90% reduction of #GHG emissions and pollutants in 2050 and a 35% reduction in 2035, compared to 2015 levels. Every challenge can be turned into an #opportunity when you treat it right. Forward thinking companies, like EPS Services B.V. & EPS Sales B.V., make sure that they are prepared for the changes ahead. Split into 3 groups, #EPS ensured that all of their employees were trained on the main future fuels. The training not only gave a general #introduction on the regulatory framework and the main fuels , but also an overview of the specific risks, #bunkering, #handling and the #commercial impacts of compliance. #Change is inevitable, so better to embrace it and understand it. 🎂 Happy Birthday C4 fuel 🎂 Today exactly one year ago, at the Room Mate Hotels Bruno in Rotterdam, through an online appointment with the Ligo BV notary, C4 fuel BV was officially established. Some called it #brave, others thought it was #stupid and honestly I didn't know who was right, I only knew that I was following my heart. And that has turned out to be the best decision ever! What an amazing year I have had as a fresh entrepreneur and how #proud and #happy I am about this move. My #ambition was to actively contribute in making the #maritime industry #greener, more #transparent, #safer and #sustainable. Thanks to the amazing customers and industry friends that I have worked with so far, I have been able to do what I wanted to do, and so much more. The first methanol bunkering permit has been issued in the Port of Rotterdam for leading barge operator TankMatch B.V. This is a great achievement and #milestone in establishing the infrastructure for low and zero carbon fuels. Tankmatch, a leading barge operator and the Port of Rotterdam are enthusiastic to share that for the first time a continuous permit has been granted for the bunkering of Methanol. This after having bunkered on a project basis for a certain period. With this permit another milestone is achieved. With Methanol gaining momentum as a sustainable marine fuel, new safety protocols are crucial. In collaboration with the port authority, we have worked on a joint plan of bunker operations that sets the new standard for the future. 🤔 Do you know the difference between a #MassFlowMeter (MFM) and a #CertifiedBunkerMeasurementSystem? 🗒️ With the growing uptake of MFM's for #bunkering, also the doubts and the uncertainties about what this is and how it works are growing. There are many ghost stories floating around, but when getting involved in the installation or usage of a Certified Bunker Measurement System, one should know the facts. 💡 ISO 22192 is an industry #guideline, covering the MFM System, the procedures and the installation on the #barge. Meaning that a single MFM can never be certified according to ISO 22192 as the MFM is only one part of the equation. 💡 To have a bunker barge certified based on ISO 22192, one should have the correct MFM System selected and installed, all the #seals in place and the correct #procedures set up.
