Congratulations to the CarbonX team! They just received an additional €4M to fuel their mission to revolutionize the global battery supply chain. 🌍🔋 With #EVehicle demand soaring, the future of graphite sourcing remains uncertain. Today, 9️⃣5️⃣% of graphite for global battery manufacturing is sourced from China. This puts the supply chain at great risk. 🔗💥 CarbonX has developed an innovative solution: use emulsion feedstock technology to locally produce carbon anode material. The team can produce new carbon anode material in high volumes in regional carbon black manufacturing facilities. What's unique about the company's technology? 💰 It matches the cost of Chinese graphite but with significant benefits. 📉 It has lower CO2 emissions than synthetic or natural graphite processes. 👣 This results in a smaller carbon footprint. 📈 Plus the material's 3D network structure boosts battery performance. CarbonX is currently undergoing late-stage qualifications with top global battery cell manufacturers. How will CarbonX use these latest funds? 📋 Execute its first offtake agreements and strengthen local production capacity through contract manufacturing. 🔬 Fully staff its newly commissioned 200 m² single-layer pouch lab to support client qualifications and develop next-generation anode materials, including high-energy density and 100 per cent circular grades. 🏭 Prepare to build a high-capacity feedstock mixing facility at the 📍 Port of Rotterdam, with parallel location and feasibility studies underway for a future 20,000-ton per annum production line in both Europe and the U.S. “CarbonX is setting the stage for a resilient, independent battery anode material supply chain that aligns with global sustainability goals. By being price competitive while outperforming graphite on performance, we’re empowering the battery industry to meet the demands of a rapidly growing electric future," says co-founder Rutger Van Raalten in a recent Silicon Canals article announcing the funding. Borski Fund is proud to continue to support CarbonX on this journey. Lots of energy at the Women’s Venture Capital Summit Europe 2024 last week! ✨ Our highlight was the panel on how to keep women in VC where Borski Fund's Anieke Lamers gave her thoughts. Organized by With Intelligence, this summit brought over 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ senior women in VC from across Europe to hear about the trends impacting VC as everyone is busy planning their 2025 agenda and goals. 📋 There was a great breakfast session hosted by European Women in VC. 🍴☀ Borski Fund is proud to be one of its founding members! What a great event last week at the Life Sciences Health Capital Match in 📍 Amsterdam. 🌟 The event featured an entrepreneur panel and investor panel with EQT Group, NLC Health Ventures and Curie Capital BV. ✨ What a great event last week at the 📍 North Holland edition of De Groeitafel. The energy of #FemaleFounders filled the room with a nice buzz. ⚡ Thank you to all the inspiring founders that joined the event. All of these scale-up entrepreneurs were able to exchange knowledge about internationalization, financing, growth opportunities and challenges in this intimate event. One of the speakers was Marika van Santvoort, founder of Pacha de Cacao, a circular startup that creates new products from the normally wasted parts of the cacao fruit, including unique beverages. Marika shared her entrepreneurial journey around bringing innovation to the cacao market and the lessons she's learned along the way.
