    In 2025, AI is poised to reshape the consulting profession faster than ever before. Larger firms are signalling that they are just 12 months away from innovations poised to commoditise many current offerings, significantly lowering costs for clients. This shift will redefine the industry, with leaner teams, streamlined operations, and increasingly automated services becoming the norm. The impact on traditional roles will be profound. Entry-level analysts will see their ranks reduced by 50-75% as AI takes over data crunching and problem structuring. Research teams are set to shrink by up to 95%, with AI generating faster, smarter insights for those who know the right questions to ask. Even design teams might face a 50% reduction as AI transforms how professional outputs are created. For consultants, this is a wake-up call. Clients will no longer pay for generic advice when AI-backed tools allow them to gain solid knowledge on most topics with just 10 focused hours of study. The consulting profession’s future belongs to those with deep expertise—especially operational experience—who can provide creativity, nuanced understanding, and solutions that AI cannot replicate.   • This week, in the shared office space, we saw one of those classic New Year energy moments in action. A team lead came in with that look - fresh notebook, fresh coffee, and a whole lot of “this year, I’m doing things differently” energy. You know the vibe. By 9:15 AM, the team was already in deep discussion about goals, priorities, and - of course - resolutions. But here’s where it got interesting. Instead of the usual "hit X targets" and "achieve Y growth," this leader flipped the script. She asked the team, “𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫?” Cue the awkward pause. A couple of side glances. One person nervously joked, “Does quitting count?” (we’ve all been there). But then, one by one, people shared: •  “I’m actually going to log off on time.” •  “I’m blocking my calendar for deep work - no more back-to-back meetings.” •  “I’ll start saying 'no' to things that drain my energy.” By 9:45 AM, it was clear: this wasn’t just a “what’s your goal” exercise - it was a reminder that well-being is the goal. Here’s the twist: They didn’t just talk about it. They wrote it down, stuck it on the wall, and made it visible for everyone to see. No perfection required - just progress. Because, let’s be honest - January hype fades, and deadlines don’t. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐐1.   • Is AI the end of traditional leadership? Not quite. 👉 AI has proven its value in tasks like data analysis, automating repetitive jobs, and boosting efficiency, which frees up leaders to focus on the bigger picture. But when it comes to leadership, there are qualities AI just can’t replicate. Emotional intelligence, for example, lets leaders pick up on subtle cues—like the unspoken tension in a room or when someone’s holding something back... These are things AI doesn’t “feel.” It’s the ability to navigate tricky interpersonal situations and make ethical decisions in times of crisis that really sets human leadership apart. 👉 Consider AI in HR. It can help analyze resumes or performance reviews, but it can also unintentionally perpetuate biases. For instance, Amazon’s recruitment tool, trained on past data, started favoring male candidates for technical roles over women—an issue that shows how AI can sometimes reinforce outdated prejudices. In response, companies like Google and HSBC have begun using strategies like blind recruitment, ensuring AI focuses on a candidate’s skills, not their demographics. AI isn’t here to replace us! It’s a tool, and knowing when to use it—and when to rely on human intuition—is key. So, how do you strike that balance? Use AI for things like analyzing trends or streamlining processes, so you have more time for the critical decisions where human judgment is irreplaceable. The best leaders know that it’s not about replacing one with the other, but about creating a balance where both technology and human intuition work together. What is your opinion about AI?
