The country is on track to triple its installed solar capacity to 13.4 GW by 2030, positioning itself as a European renewable energy leader.   Exciting opportunities are also emerging for smaller-scale PV projects (up to 1 MW), particularly those benefiting energy communities and farmers. These projects, which have been the backbone of Greece’s PV growth, now benefit from a competitive framework and a new fixed feed-in tariff, ensuring continued investment and growth in local renewable energy. Last week, I had the privilege of visiting three of our AgriPV projects, each showcasing the incredible potential of combining solar energy with sustainable agriculture: 🥭One over mango orchards 🌿 One over lychee fields 🍇And another under construction with Doral Energy in Ma’ale Gilboa over grapevines These projects demonstrate how innovation can address two critical global challenges: producing clean energy and ensuring sustainable agriculture. Less is more—have you ever heard that one before? Here's how we proved it in solar design. A partner recently approached us with a self-consumption project designed as a 54 MWp fixed-tilt solution. After reviewing their goals, we proposed a shift to our versatile Solargik tracking system, and the results were remarkable: • Reduced capacity, similar output: By decreasing capacity from 54 MWp to 36 MWp—a 32.56% reduction—we achieved nearly the same energy output (just 1.16% less) using trackers. • Economic advantage at peak times: Fixed-tilt’s minor energy advantage occurred during off-peak electricity prices, while our tracker system produced more energy during peak price times, increasing the value of the energy generated. • Lower project costs: The reduced capacity meant proportional reductions in cabling, groundworks, and panel costs, and despite the tracker system’s higher technology costs, the overall structure expense dropped by 5%. Yesterday, pv magazine Italia published an article about the first soon-to-be-built project on Pantelleria Island. It will be a 1 MWp ground-mount project on the island, marking the beginning of many more planned for the future. This is the kind of project that can only start thanks to a visionary approach, such as that of CCE Italia and Sandro Esposito, addressing the island's critical energy needs. Not all solar projects are created equal... ⚖️ Each site is a unique puzzle with distinct challenges, especially when dealing with slopes, odd shapes, obstacles and irregular terrains. 🧩 Yet, too often, the industry relies on generic, “rule of thumb” designs that fail to adapt to real-world complexities. Take sloped sites for example. Traditional layouts waste space, leave energy untapped, and drive up costs with expensive grading or civil works. 🗻 At Solargik, we’ve thrown out the old playbook. 📒 Instead of forcing sites to fit trackers, we design trackers to fit the site. Take a look at the project below from Paoletti, Italy We worked with Obton Italy Stern Energy Master Tech Ingegneria on this site to overcome a unique challenge: over 50% of the site featured slopes exceeding a 10% gradient! In the layout below, the pink and purple tables represent 16-module trackers, whereas the light and dark blue tables represent 12-module trackers.  By deploying shorter trackers tailored to the terrain, we optimized the layout, reduced costs, and unlocked the site’s full energy potential.
