As we reach the end of 2024, we want to take a moment to look back on our Israel Response Mission so far. IsraAID is currently assessing the situation in Vanuatu and preparing to respond after a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck today, causing extensive damage across the islands. Our longstanding and experienced in-country team is working closely with local authorities to determine the most urgent needs and launch an immediate emergency response. Meaningful change comes one day at a time. That’s why Fabiola, IsraAID Guatemala’s Education Coordinator, spends every day building a brighter, safer future for underserved indigenous communities in Alta Verapaz. “Sometimes, after a long and difficult day, I ask myself why I choose to do this work. Every day Khadija, a protection project officer and gender-based violence expert at IsraAID Kenya, works to support teens at our adolescent-friendly space in Kakuma. We spent a day with her to get an inside look at the impact that she makes in the refugee and host community. “At the end of the day I feel a mix of exhaustion and fulfillment,” she says. “The challenges are heavy, but knowing I have contributed to someone’s healing and growth brings me peace and satisfaction.” Read the full "Day in the Life" blog and see the difference a day makes: https://lnkd.in/dqXR54c8

Watch as we spend a day with Beatrice - a local area mechanic in Malawi - who is ensuring access to safe water in her community. In Malawi, a broken borehole can cut off entire communities from safe water. Through professional training with IsraAID, Beatrice learned the skills she needs to manage, maintain, and repair boreholes across the region. Every day, she is breaking stigmas about women in male-dominated professions, providing for her family, and ensuring safe water access for thousands of people in Phalombe.
