"I always dreamed of being a doctor. My mom says I used to give check-ups to all my dolls as a child. Even today, when I’m not reading for pleasure, I spend my free time reading articles about cancer and diseases. After getting married and having six kids, I realized I was giving up on that dream, but I’m still grateful to be working my entire life in a field I love."
Aviya Hoida, a CTA (Clinical Trial Assistant) at Alpha Tau Medical, grew up in Petah Tikva and now lives in Mevo Horon with her husband and six children (aged 3-18).
She holds an extended degree in #biology from Bar-Ilan University and previously taught science in school before making a career change to become a CRA (Clinical Research Associate). For 15 years, she worked directly with patients at Shaare Zedek Medical Center, first in the hematology-oncology division and later as a clinical coordinator in the gastroenterology department, specifically in the unit for inflammatory bowel diseases in pregnant women (IBD MOM). Her next stop was Alpha Tau Medical.
“I was interested in technology and wanted to help people. I knew I had a lot of knowledge and experience in #oncology, and I wanted to use it. I felt that this was a company that had made a breakthrough in its field, and it was an opportunity for me to diversify and do something meaningful.”
As a CTA at Alpha Tau, she is responsible for submitting new research studies to the medical sites we partner with to perform #clinicaltrials, maintaining ongoing communication with the sites, and liaising with the study’s central laboratory.
In her free time, Aviya works out at the gym (three times a week!) and never stops reading. She’s currently reading “Speaking with the Messiah Now” by Rabbi Shmuel Raskin and “Pnima” magazine.
