Each region possesses a distinct architectural identity, serving as a cultural "fingerprint" that makes it uniquely recognizable. Italian design, for instance, draws from the Roman legacy using stone and light hues. Turkey is distinguished by intricate glazed tilework that adorns walls and ceilings, whereas Mexico embraces vibrant colors and textures through local materials and artisanry. Many of these elements are rooted in heritage-based practices, yet over time, they have been reimagined and transformed through new processes, giving rise to contemporary architectural expressions. In Switzerland, the concept of "Swissness" frames this core identity—a fusion of watchmaking precision and functionality. Rooted in micromechanics, Swiss engineering, and craftsmanship converge in the design of modern minimalist windows, where clean lines and transparency redefine boundaries and shape the architectural language. Across 11 editions, this newsletter has explored critical topics shaping a more sustainable future—trends, technologies, and challenges influencing both today and tomorrow. In this final edition of 2024, we reflect on the year's most innovative materials and peek into what 2025 might bring. From biomimetic solutions inspired by nature to the resurgence of traditional materials like hemp, the industry has shown that innovation and tradition can coexist. Classic techniques such as thatched roofs and lime applications have maintained their relevance, while contemporary materials like expanded polystyrene (EPS) are being reinvented for enhanced sustainability. On the decorative side, challenges such as microplastics in paints and furniture recycling from urban debris are pushing architects and designers to rethink their choices. Now, we want to hear from you: What would you like to see more of in this newsletter? More in-depth technical content from manufacturers? Broader discussions on industry challenges and opportunities? Interactive Q&A sessions with experts? Or a balanced mix of these elements? Share your thoughts and help us make this space even more relevant to you and our professional community.

the Architect Show 2024, which took place on December 7th and 8th at the Metropolitan Expo in Athens, was held in close collaboration with DAAily platforms. Moderated by Editor-in-Chief Christele Harrouk, the event featured ArchDaily Sessions, a series of in-depth discussions with Waiwai Studio's Wael Al Awar, BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group's Hanna Johansson, and David Chipperfield Architects's Stavros Gyftopoulos. Along with the talks, the event also featured a physical display of Building of the Year winners and nominees. The installation was complemented by our first-ever Building of the Year Talks, a series of presentations by Greek architectural firms nominated for the award. Our social media team was present on site to document the two-day event and live talks, so you can watch all the discussions here: https://ow.ly/PhsW50UrM11 Images by Formart Studio and Gavriil Papadiotis
