What a year we had last year! Check out our 2024 wrap up video and see some of our highlights below: ➡️ Yoga networking breakfast event where we practiced mindfulness and relaxation followed by connection over croissants. Thank you to YY London for sponsoring and hosting us. ➡️ Delivered our annual Leadership Programme where we supported 13 mid-senior level professionals in honing their leadership skills - 60% of the cohort got promotions and salary increases as a result of the programme. ➡️ Our flagship Leadership Summit where we had the formidable Lottie Whyte, founder of MyoMaster, as keynote speaker along with leaders in business; Louis Maycock MRICS MPTS MFPWS, Nelma Antonio MCIPR, Zafar Bhunnoo, Jennie Dorsaint, and Gabriel Ajala. Thanks also to our corporate partner Montagu Evans for hosting us. ➡️ Delivered our annual Mentorship Programme which saw 10 mentees be mentored by 10 mentors over the course of 6 months. ➡️ Held our annual Career Insight event where we heard from guest speaker Natalie Ojevah MBE a senior leader at Barclays UK and the brainchild behind Barclays Eagle Labs Black Founders Accelerator programme ➡️ Held our annual dinner celebrating our Alumni Community and their achievements. We had the pleasure of hearing from Darren Miller Founder of Black British Initiative and MBA30 programme in partnership with SOAS University of London. ➡️ Held 8 online webinars supporting our community with taking care of their health & wellness, careers, financial wealth, personal branding, and business. A great way to end 2024! We’re thrilled to see our work on the transformation of YY London featured as the cover image in the latest issue of the ICE’s Civil Engineering Journal, published by Emerald Publishing This project in the heart of #CanaryWharf showcases the critical role of #constructionengineering in sustainable building reuse. McGee retained and reused much of the original composite-framed structure of 30 South Colonnade, dramatically reducing the project’s embodied CO₂ equivalent (CO₂e) – a further step towards achieving UN Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. Our work tackled unique challenges, including disconnecting several bays of original bracing, staged construction of temporary stability, and adapting to decisions made decades ago when the structure was first designed. By combining expertise in temporary works, construction sequencing, and structural refurbishment, we delivered a highly sustainable modern workspace ready for the future. Proud to have collaborated with our partners @quadrant and Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. and grateful to the Institution of Civil Engineers and Emerald and the ICE for recognising the importance of this work. A dynamic artwork that prioritises both function and aesthetic. Our work at Canary Wharf’s YY Building needed to stand out visually, but also encourage new tenancy for our client. We were briefed to create a piece that never appears the same twice, being ambient, impactful, and energy efficient, resonating with wider bio-regenerative efforts taking place in the local area. Seamlessly combining technological innovation with natural aesthetics, the piece reinforces the concept of 'technobiophilia', bringing technology, nature, and people, together.
