Disposable is Wasteful – Let’s Shift How We See Plastic Every bottle we buy has the potential to be more than just disposable waste. But in the UK, we’re only capturing around half for recycling. What if we stopped thinking of plastic as single-use and started valuing it as a reusable resource? Let’s change the way we view plastic and make every bottle a step toward a sustainable future.

Deposit Return Schemes (DRS) done better. Plastic Bottle Recycling without Waste.
About us
Bottld Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) are better than any currently on the market. Firstly, they’re designed differently. They’re excellent space-savers, holding a lot of bottles (sorted and shredded at the same time) but standing at the same size as your typical snack vending machine. You can host them in entrances, exits or anywhere else a normal vending machine can fit. Which makes them suitable for multiple venues, not just major retailers. Secondly, we guarantee that the plastic (PET and HDPE) goes to recycling (not landfill). This promise enhances your own brand’s consumer ‘feel good’ qualities and helps build customer trust. If you're aiming to improve ESG credentials or apply for B corp status, this could be a major step forwards for your organisation. Get your venue ahead of the pack. Join our ‘advance launch’ waitlist. You’ll be invited to exclusive events and have access to ‘early adopter’ deals and pilot schemes. Go to bottld.org or DM us.

We’ve Got the Data – Now Let’s Drive Change We know the numbers: 7.7 billion bottles purchased, only 57% recycled. We know the environmental costs of plastic waste. So why aren’t we seeing the change? With more recycling points, clearer labelling, and commitment from businesses and communities alike, we can make it easy for everyone to choose recycling. Let’s act now to make our intentions a reality. Tag us with your own plans and great initiatives. #Bottld #WasteReduction #CircularEconomy #SustainableFuture #EcoInnovation #RecyclingInfrastructure

From Purchase to Recycling: Closing the Loop on Plastic Bottles 7.7 billion plastic water bottles bought in the UK each year. Only 57% recycled. Can we afford for nearly half of this plastic to go to waste? Let’s advocate for return schemes and local recycling hubs. Imagine if every bottle had an easy path to reuse or recycling – a future where plastic isn’t disposable but a valuable, sustainable resource. Together, we can build a better system for our planet. We're starting with Bottld. (The figure of 7.7 billion plastic water bottles consumed each year in the UK, with only 57% recycled, is sourced from the UK Parliament's Environmental Audit Committee report, Plastic Bottles: Turning Back the Plastic Tide. This report provides detailed insights into the UK's plastic bottle consumption and recycling habits, highlighting that around 38.5 million single-use plastic bottles are used daily, but only a portion of these are recycled. The committee has cited data indicating that the recycling rate for plastic bottles had plateaued at around 57%, leaving a significant number in landfills, incinerated, or littered across the country. For more information, you can access the full report on the UK Parliament website under the Environmental Audit Committee publications.)

Waste Crime Isn’t Just Illegal – It’s an Environmental Crisis In *Buried*, Radio 4 dives deep into the environmental damage caused by waste crime. Sites filled with toxic waste, illegal landfills, and cover-ups – the consequences are staggering. These crimes directly affect public health, pollute water sources, and damage ecosystems. It’s a wake-up call that our waste management systems need reform, with stronger enforcement and tougher penalties for offenders. We can’t keep letting harmful waste disappear into our countryside. https://lnkd.in/es9v7SbU

Out of Sight, Out of Mind? The Hidden Journey of Plastic Bottles When we’re done with a plastic bottle, where does it actually go? Only 57% of bottles in the UK find their way back to recycling, which means millions end up as waste. We need a system where every bottle is designed for a second life, whether through reuse or recycling. Let’s push for accessible recycling solutions so the journey of every bottle isn’t a one-way trip to the bin. #PlasticRecycling #SustainableManufacturing #WasteReduction #CircularEconomy #SustainableFuture #EcoInnovation #RecyclingInfrastructure #ResponsibleDesign #GreenTechnology

The Plastic Bottles We Consume vs. The Bottles We Actually Recycle In the UK, we buy 7.7 billion plastic water bottles each year. But only 57% ever make it back to recycling (DEFRA). That means about 3.3 billion bottles are heading straight for landfill or incineration. What if each of us committed to reusing and recycling, doubling the current rate? Imagine the impact if recycling wasn’t just an option but our default. Let’s build a new narrative for single-use plastic, where every bottle has a second life.

Why Are We Still Sending Plastic to Landfill? In the UK, we send millions of tonnes of plastic waste to landfill or incineration each year (DEFRA). Every time a plastic bottle ends up there, it’s a missed opportunity for recycling. We need a circular economy that reuses and recycles. Let’s push for infrastructure that puts reuse and recycling first, not landfill.

Time for a Guy Fawkes Moment in Waste Management – Let’s Demand Change This November 5 As fireworks light up the sky for Guy Fawkes Night, let’s talk about an explosion of another kind: the pressing need for radical change in how we handle waste. Each year, millions of plastic bottles and other recyclable materials are incinerated or dumped, despite being reusable resources. November 5 is a reminder of the power of bold actions – and it’s time we took a similarly dramatic approach to waste management. Instead of letting recyclable plastics vanish in flames, we need infrastructure that prioritises reuse and recycling over landfill and incineration. This Bonfire Night, let’s commit to a “spark” of change: advocating for closed-loop systems that treat waste as a valuable resource. We’re calling for a nationwide shift – a spark, a fire, a movement that stops our resources from going up in smoke. Will you join us? #GuyFawkesNight #BonfireNight #WasteManagement #RecyclingRevolution #SustainableFuture #ReduceReuseRecycle #ZeroWasteUK #PlasticWaste #CircularEconomy #EnvironmentalChange #November5 #UKRecycling #WasteNotWantNot

Waste Crime: An Invisible Threat to Our Environment If you’ve been following Radio 4’s *Buried*, you know waste crime is an epidemic hiding in plain sight. Illegal dumping and the intentional mismanagement of waste is not only poisoning landscapes but undermining trust in our waste management systems. Every year, waste crime costs the UK economy an estimated £1 billion (DEFRA). It’s time we stop seeing waste as something to “get rid of” and start treating it as a resource. Let’s push for stricter regulations and real accountability for those who exploit our environment.
