🚀 "Lifting While We Climb". Last Wednesday, we gathered a special crowd of students, mentors, and partners to explore an ethos that underpins everything we do at Women Who Build 🪄— the belief that true success means bringing others up as we rise. Three remarkable founders joined us to share their journeys: - George Hadjigeorgiou (ZOE) - Riya Grover (Sequence) - Eshita Kabra-Davies (By Rotation) Some lessons we will keep in the memory book: - "Our relationship with fear shapes our journey. When we face it together, supporting each other through challenges, we transform fear into collective strength." - "Share both vulnerabilities and victories —each story becomes a ladder for someone else's ascent." - "Mentorship is one of the most undervalued assets out there. The beauty lies in its simplicity — anyone can be a mentor by asking the right questions and truly listening." At WWB, we're building an ecosystem where every female university student and young graduate across Europe can dream boldly and build confidently. Whether you're curious about entrepreneurship, taking your first entrepreneurial steps or scaling new heights, you'll find cheerleaders ready to support your journey ✨ Special thanks to Left Lane Capital for providing the perfect space for meaningful and fun connection, and to HSBC Innovation Banking for believing in our vision. To everyone who joined us: welcome to the WWB family! Here's to another year of rising by raising others 🚀

Last week, we welcomed ZOE's George and PolyAI's Tsung-Hsien Wen to our Pitch Academy at Balderton Capital 🚀 As founders of two of Europe's most successful research-backed companies, we couldn’t think of better speakers to kick off our inaugural Pitch Academy event. During an hour of candid conversation, they unpacked their entrepreneurial journeys at PolyAI and ZOE, sharing stories and advice about overcoming challenges, winning mindsets, and how to continuously refine product-market fit to scale research into successful businesses 🌟 Key takeaways from a wisdom-packed session: • 𝐎𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥: "Fall in love with the problem - something you deeply care about - and find somebody you respect and admire to work with" • 𝐎𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡: "We were able to do things fast because we were completely naive" • 𝐎𝐧 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬' 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞: "Being technical means you have a very logical mindset, and that helps you navigate any challenge" • 𝐎𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦-𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠: "Once you understand, you realise the problem is actually not unsolvable" • 𝐎𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: "People tell me 'no', and I hear 'not yet'" We're immensely grateful to George and Shawn for taking the time to share their journey with our star participants; definitely, a moment that will stay in the WWB memory book 📖❤️🔥

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐱 𝐖𝐖𝐁 𝐏𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 ❤️🔥 Two months ago, we embarked on an important mission: to identify 20+ exceptional STEM female students from across the UK, helping them launch their entrepreneurial journeys. This UK-wide search led us to an incredible group who gathered at Balderton's vibrant office near King's Cross last week to meet top-tier founders (big reveal later this week!), form teams and pitch all things AI and Biotech to fantastic investors Elena Moneta and Magda Lukaszewicz. 🌟 A heartfelt thank you to our friends at Balderton Capital. It's a privilege to collaborate with a fund that has shaped Europe's startup landscape, working together to empower the next generation of founders. Dream big and pitch boldly 🤘🏻💜

𝗪𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲! 🎉 We’re excited to introduce a leader in the world of venture capital: Jakob Buchmayer, Investor at Accel. 𝗝𝗮𝗸𝗼𝗯’𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 💫 “I am an Investor at Accel, a global multi-stage venture capital firm. Originally from Austria, I co-founded a small startup out of university and subsequently worked in Private Equity before moving into VC. At Accel, I focus on partnering with slightly later-stage startups that have already reached initial product-market fit.” 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗛𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗔 𝗪𝗪𝗕 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿 🪄 “Finding trusted mentors for sparring and perspective is incredibly important when founding a company - and a lot harder for underrepresented groups. It is important to build more inclusive support systems for those who make the jump. I am looking forward to being helpful wherever I can along that journey!” Apply for the NextGen Founders Programme by October 13th for the chance to be mentored by Jakob! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/efscxc3C

I grew up in India, the US and London, and am fluent in English and French. Based in London, I spent six years supporting successful fundraising efforts as part of small agile Strategic Finance teams at FinTech giants Revolut and Checkout.com. Recently, I joined ElevenLabs, an AI unicorn revolutionising the AI audio space. As Chief of Staff, I support ElevenLabs’ commercial strategy and international expansion efforts.” 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗔 𝗪𝗪𝗕 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿 🪄 “Throughout my career, I noticed a lack of networking and mentorship opportunities, which ultimately led me to take matters into my own hands and create my own women-in-tech group that meets regularly. I'm a strong advocate for diversity of thought and am excited to contribute to Women Who Build and continue fostering a supportive community for women in tech.” Join the NextGen Founders Programme and get mentored by Sophie —apply by October 13th! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/efscxc3C
