Computer and Network Security
The WMCRC is working with local businesses and supply chain to strengthen cyber resilience in the West Midlands region.
About us
The West Midlands Cyber Resilience Centre (WMCRC) supports and helps protect businesses and third sector organisations in the region against cyber crime. Working with local Universities and the Police forces in Staffordshire, West Midlands, West Mercia and Warwickshire, provides us with access to the latest local as well as national information on emerging cyber threats, criminal trends, best practice for cyber resilience and new technology to provide you with timely advice to prepare and protect your business, staff and clients from cyber criminals. We also provide affordable testing and training services, with the opportunity to learn how to procure private sector cyber services where needed. A trusted resource, we are also a straightforward place to find IASME approved Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus Certifiers in the West Midlands. These are recognised nationally as Trusted Partners. WMCRC is modelled on a successful structured collaboration acclaimed by Police UK. It is part of a developing network of Resilience Centres across the UK with Business Resilience International Management, supported by NPCC.

⚠️ Beware of the Pineapple! ⚠️ Now, we're not talking about the fruit here 🍍 - Pineapple devices are actually used in man-in-the-middle attacks to intercept data sent over public Wi-Fi. If your employees are working remotely, ensure they know how to protect themselves! Pro tip: VPNs and secure mobile connections are essential for secure remote work. 📱 🛡️ #RemoteWorkSecurity #CyberAwareness #WiFiRisks #PineappleDevice #BusinessProtection #CyberSecurity #CyberResilientUK #ProtectAgainstCyberCrime

Planning to get away in the new year? Make sure your trip doesn’t turn into a nightmare by staying alert to holiday fraud. Many can fall victim to fake listings, fraudulent websites, and deals that seem too good to be true. To protect yourself from scams, keep these tips in mind: 💻 Research the company – Check reviews and verify the business through official sites. Be cautious of listings with limited information or no reviews. 💳 Pay with a secure method – Avoid direct bank transfers. Use secure payment methods like credit cards, which offer more protection if something goes wrong. 📞 Watch out for pressure tactics – Scammers often create urgency, saying things like “last-minute deal” or “limited offer.” Take your time and avoid rushed decisions. 🌐 Look for official accreditation – Trustworthy booking sites and travel agencies will display membership in official industry bodies, like ABTA or ATOL. Stay vigilant, verify your bookings, and enjoy a secure getaway. ✈️
