WellFounded #Health #Summit: A #HealthTech and #Impact Summit: #DoneWell. A bit delayed on this, but I wanted to share my praise for the incredible work Dr Jack Kreindler and his team did in putting on the WellFounded Leaders In Health event at Havas’ London HQ a few weeks ago, on the topic of the #FutureOfPrevention. It was a delight to be pulled together with other leaders from the #healthcare and #healthtech ecosystem, to collaborate and discuss how we can work together to help solve real-world impact problems in the sector. Amongst other things, we discussed novel approaches to early #cancer #detection and how #data and #AI can radically democratise access to healthcare insights and keep people healthier for longer. I particularly enjoyed the discussion led by Andrew Elder from AlbionVC and Matt Brittin from Google, and what Nadeem Sarwar from Novo Nordisk had to say about preventative health being a bigger market opportunity than traditional healthcare. Of course, one of the other highlights was when my inimitable co-founder Michael D. Geer from Humanity Inc led a lively debate with the likes of Helene Guillaume Pabis from Wild.AI and others on a fascinating topic: Should Citizen Science Drive Clinical Trials? They debated whether #RandomizedClinicalTrials (RCTs) are economically viable given the pace of change with AI and whether we should consider #AdaptiveTrials and Phase IV #PatientReportedOutcomes (PRO) trials should now be accepted as a gold standard. 🤔 It was lovely also to be nominated for an award for “#BestThoughtLeader in 2024”. I came 3rd place as received a #HighlyCommended. 🙏 Some of the comments from the judges included: “ “Peter has a huge influence in the UK and European ecosystem, and his company and personal mission align very well. Excellent work” “He's a true leader and inspiration” And in relation to my work with The ICE Network - the tech founder and investor community I co-founded: “ICE’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs through thoughtfully curated retreats reflects their understanding of the journey, creating a community where founders can grow stronger together.” Last but not least, #WellFounded had the best conference swag ever! I particularly appreciated the #SURI toothbrush from Sustainable Rituals, which if you haven’t checked it out, it’s a must upgrade. 🪥 And the book from our friend Sergey Young, #GrowingYoung, covering the longevity field and both what we can do now and the technological and scientific revolution that's coming. 🧬 I only wish I could make the Longevity Rave afterwards, at #Koko led by the incredible Tina Woods! 🎧 Looking forward to hopefully contributing next year - both at the event and on the decks! 😎

  • The art of the debate, truly an educational exercise on both sides, rather than a win-lose scenario. This was so nicely demonstrated in the panel chaired by Dr Tom Gedman and the WellFounded #LeadersInHealth event a few weeks ago featuring Anne-Sophie Fluri 🧠 Joshua Dugdale Dr Rachel Thomas and Tommaso Barba #healthconference #healthdebate #WellFounded #FoundersHealth

Criticism of Steven Bartlett’s podcast is coming thick and fast. Here’s one thing he could do to save his credibility… Debate. Welcome contrarian guests to the show but have them engage in an intelligent discussion with an opposing expert, each backing their points with science. But wouldn’t this spread more disinformation? No. It would engage more listeners in critical thinking rather than blind following if both parties come together to listen and learn from each other. It will also highlight where biases lie if sponsorship and investment is declared beforehand. Here’s the issue. The public and even clinicians can fall prey of misinformation because they trust influencers they listen to and resonate with. Influencers may bring validation and hope to someone’s suffering with simple answers rather than complex jargon. But let’s face it. Despite the best efforts of health services worldwide, we are dealing with high levels of poor health and inequality straining systems to breaking point. Clinicians are often overwhelmed or undertrained to connect with patients on a human level and provide tailored, empowering lifestyle advice. Instead we see patient concerns ignored and ideas dismissed. But these concerns mean something to a person. If someone asks if there are any foods to help their Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and you say ‘just follow the NHS guidelines’ this would indeed be evidence based but it would miss an opportunity. If they then say they’ve heard of the Glucose Goddess and want to try Continous Glucose Monitorting and you say “that’s a load of nonsense” you’ve also missed the point. That the person in front of you wants you to care. If patients come to me with theories from social media influencers the first thing I do is praise them. They want to take their health seriously. Does that mean I agree with every supplement regime and diet plan without an evidence base? No. I follow the guidelines created by people who dedicate their lives collectively to helping others by appraising evidence. But I provide advice from a place of respect, understanding and kindness rather than cold hubris. So yes we must highlight disinformation to keep people safe. But we don’t have to do so in a way that disconnects us from the people who are craving our help. High profile influencers like Steven Bartlett need to bring people together. They need to bring opposing views together. If they do, faulty arguments will fall apart under scrutiny but everyone will learn from each other. The evidence based consensus crew will learn how to be kinder and respectful to people yearning for answers. The contrarian influencers may learn how to appraise studies with more rigor and use their skills in communicating messages and stories in a better way. So let’s learn how to think better, together through honest, respectful debate. Not by shouting at each other. This will only separate and make things worse. What do you think? - - -

  • Intriguing summary by Stasa Lalovic from our #LeadersInHealth summit on the Wellness revolution. It’s tangible to see the change in many people’s attitude and habits but alongside misconceptions and commercial opportunism.

Alcohol, cigarettes, fast and processed food are not sexy anymore 🍔❌ The wellness market is booming💥 This shift toward a healthy lifestyle is shaping a new 🌊 of #trends that open important questions around #ageing and #longevity ⏳and how we integrate those into everyday healthcare. 🎶 to my ears - according to McKinsey & Company, consumers are no longer simply trying out these trends and hoping for the best, but rather asking “What does the science say?” - - moving slowly but surely towards #preventative and #integrative healthcare 🔗 and living better not only longer ♾️ I was SO honoured to be invited by Dr Jack Kreindler to speak at Leaders in Health - probably my favourite event of the year! Oh and my favourite discussion was obviously around #womenshealth! 💁🏼♀️ Female ovaries age 3-5 times FASTER than ANY other organ in the body - perhaps this is a proxy model that we should be using to understand overall ageing? Feels surreal to be surrounded by most visionary and bold leaders who are making transformative moves 🕺🏽to create the new present and future of medicine 🔮 Dr. Andrea Gartenbach, MD, Chris Wigley, Nachson Mimran, Dr Federica Amati, Boniface Verney-Carron, Helene Guillaume Pabis, Dr Uzma Choudry

Entrepreneurship is an Expediton: Thank you so much to all you Boardwave Phill Robinson, Jonathan McKay, and Bindi Karia and Sam Glover for this wonderful opportunity. It was one of the best staged fireside’s I have yet been invited on. Fabulous. And GREAT article. So many great points. Wonderfully captured. 1️⃣ Set an iconic goal: Whether it’s scaling a peak or scaling a company, having a bold, aspirational North Star sustains you through uncertainty. 2️⃣ Take small steps: Success is rarely immediate, so break it down. Sam rowed 3,000 miles by focusing on the next mile, the next 33 strokes. 3️⃣ Treasure your team: Even solo feats thrive on support. Jack’s research clearly showed that camaraderie boosts both performance and morale. "Relish moments of difficulty, they’re proof you’re alive. Every single minute of your life counts." When you’re growing a business, resilience isn’t optional - it’s essential. At Boardwave Live, we heard from two extraordinary leaders who’ve pushed themselves to the physical and mental limit: Dr Jack Kreindler, CEO of WellFounded, and Sam Glover, Partner at SG Capital Partners. Jack undertook a research expedition to the South Pole, while Sam rowed solo across the Atlantic. Their extreme journeys offer invaluable lessons for entrepreneurs: 1️⃣ Set an iconic goal: Whether it’s scaling a peak or scaling a company, having a bold, aspirational North Star sustains you through uncertainty. 2️⃣ Take small steps: Success is rarely immediate, so break it down. • "The world is full of good and brilliant people, but many times those people get distracted or head off in less human centric endeavours. So as you go, you collect a merry band of people that both have the will and the perseverance to not only talk about how the world can be better, but lead real change with curiosity and love ❤️- then you even have the next level up with the folks who don’t just do that awesomeness but also take the time to lift up and enable others to better do the same 🚀" The extraordinarily generous words of Michael D. Geer - one of those souls that fits perfectly into the "next level up" kind of humans category. We're quick to adore the unicorn who's popped 9 zeros into their account and made a lot of investors very happy. We're swift laud the laureates recognised by great institutions. But we rarely take time to recognise relative unknowns. Including patient advocates and carers, academics and activists who's only driver is to do the right thing and who sacrifice their own recognition to discover great things or to elevate others. Health is the most precious of things but humanity is what it's all about, and also what Humanity Inc is about too. Conveniently named. We have no vested interest or partnership with Michael's and Peter Ward's Humanity Inc company but if ever you meet them you know that they are committed to things way higher than the business they are devoted to but also to the health, wellbeing and flourishing of as many people they can conceivably impact. Have a go at thinking about an unsung hero in your work or at home, someone who's quietly elevated you or others before themselves, and give them the recognition they deserve alongside the big news who always get 10x more praise than the former. This is leadership. #Gratitude #LeadersInHealth

Co-Founder @ Humanity | Applying AI & Data to Public Health

I participated in a really powerful conference last week in London called Leaders in Health. I will post more on that Monday but today I’d like to… Give gratitude for a couple folks that make the life of health leaders in the UK and globally better, and do so consistently and selflessly. These two people are the power couple of Marje Isabelle and Dr Jack Kreindler. As several reading this will know, the world is full of good and brilliant people, but many times those people get distracted or head off in less human centric endeavours. So as you go, you collect a merry band of people that both have the will and the perseverance to not only talk about how the world can be better, but lead real change with curiosity and love ❤️- then you even have the next level up with the folks who don’t just do that awesomeness but also take the time to lift up and enable others to better do the same 🚀 Marje and Jack are two such people and they should be treasured and celebrated 🤗💖🤗 Ps. Yes, Jack, I could have put the impressive photo of you in deep discussion with luminaries Molly Stevens and Tony Fadell, but I felt this conveyed your true essence 😜 Humanity Inc WellFounded Havas #humanity #leadership #love #futureofhealth

𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐮𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭... As the year winds down, I find myself reflecting on 2024—a year that’s been nothing short of an emotional roller coaster, a year that challenged me in ways I couldn’t have anticipated. It’s been a journey of immense growth, profound joy but also deep struggle—moments where I found myself confronting emotional exhaustion, feelings of inadequacy, sadness and even doubt about whether I could keep moving forward. In those moments, what kept me afloat were the incredible people who surrounded me (#ykwya 🙏 ). Today, I want to celebrate one of those people: my business partner and friend, Joshua Haynes, whose BIRTHDAY happens to be TODAY! 🥳 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐡𝐮𝐚, you’ve been my anchor this year. Your unwavering support, positivity, and kindness have helped me navigate tough times, even when I wasn’t at my best. Your patience (especially when my temper got the better of me) have kept me grounded. I’m so grateful to share this journey with you at Masawa. Together, we’ve built something that feels truly meaningful. Just last week, we were honoured with the 𝑴𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝑯𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒍𝒚 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒅 𝑰𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅 at the WellFounded 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 Summit in London! 🎉 This award highlights our #NurtureCapital model, which prioritises founder mental health and holistic wellbeing—a vision that you’ve championed with relentless dedication to redefine how impact and mental health investing is done. As Dr. Jack Kreindler aptly said: "𝘔𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘸𝘢 𝘱𝘶𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘴, 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘴. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩. Joshua, thank you for being a source of strength and inspiration for me and for everyone around. Here’s to more adventures, more highs, and fewer lows. Happy Birthday! 🎂 #Masawa #MentalHealth #FounderWellbeing #ImpactInvesting #TeamworkmakestheDreamwork

Aisel Health at Leaders in Health Last week, we had the privilege of attending 'Leaders in Health' by Dr Jack Kreindler, WellFounded and Havas in London alongside 149 doctors, innovators, scholars, and policymakers. A standout moment was Nadeem Sarwar, Founder and Head of the Transformational Prevention Unit at Novo Nordisk, outlining the three critical shifts the NHS must undergo: 1️⃣ From hospitals to communities 2️⃣ From analogue to digital 3️⃣ From sickness to prevention At Aisel Health, we are contributing to drive the 2️⃣ analogue-to-digital transformation. This isn’t just a UK priority—it’s also central to Denmark’s new health reform, where solutions like our AI-driven clinical services in psychiatry can significantly improve access to care. 💬 We’re eager to collaborate with policymakers and psychiatrists in Denmark and the UK to turn this vision into reality. Is that you? Let’s explore opportunities together! #DigitalHealth #MentalHealth
