Today we say goodbye and thank you to Dame Janice M. Pereira who sat on JCPC hearings this week. Working with a judge from the Caribbean has been invaluable to the Court. Dame Janice brought a wealth of experience and expertise, helping us better serve the countries of the Caribbean. Alongside her hearings, she took the time to speak to our Judicial Assistants, staff, and hosted an Ask a Justice session - the advice and guidance Dame Janice gave will stay them for a lifetime. We spoke to Dame Janice before she left, hear about her week below:

  • During a break from hearings yesterday, Dame Janice M. Pereira hosted an Ask a Justice session with the London Academy of Excellence and St Angela’s Ursuline School. Over 30 pupils joined us from across London to pose their challenging and interesting questions to Dame Janice - making this one of our largest Ask a Justice sessions ever! The students took the opportunity to ask Dame Janice for careers advice, alongside questions about her role as a judge.

What a week it’s been at the UK Supreme Court and Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. On Wednesday we launched our brand-new Case Management Portal and two new websites. The portal provides an enhanced, digital way for Court users to interact with us, at a time which suits them. They can now file court documents digitally, track the progress of their cases in real time and at their own convenience, and be notified of any updates when they happen. The Case Management System ‘talks’ to the websites, enabling the publication of cases and case updates at the time they happen and without manual intervention. Together with a fresh design and appearance, the websites provide a streamlined way of communicating with the Court for professional users, the public and school groups, so they can plan their visit to the Court’s iconic listed building in the heart of London, book events, tours or make an enquiry. You can read the full news story on our website: https://lnkd.in/eZBpw3wC The Case Management Portal and websites are the fruit of our three-year Change Programme, now in its final year.
