  • 🔄 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘀: 𝗔 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 The latest report from ZigZag and Retail Economics reveals an emerging disruptor for retailers: slow returners. While they represent just 11% of online shoppers, their delayed returns are set to make up 21% of all non-food returns in the UK next year—an estimated £5.8bn. During peak seasons like Black Friday, this trend poses critical risks to inventory management and profitability. 📊 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁: • Returns timing matters: 64.1% of shoppers return items within 1-5 days, but the 15.5% of shoppers who delay by 10+ days account for £9.8bn in returns, jeopardizing retailers' ability to resell items during peak periods. • Generational impact: Gen Z and Millennials, driven by convenience and impulsive shopping, are more likely to delay returns compared to Baby Boomers. • Retailer strategies: Shorter returns windows, proactive communication, and offering multiple return options (post office, home collection, drop-off points, etc.) are key to mitigating these challenges. Should retailers reconsider their extended return policies during peak season to balance customer satisfaction with operational efficiency?
