The new NPPF places stronger focus on meeting the needs of a modern economy. This, alongside the Government’s target for net zero emissions by 2050, its emerging national industrial strategy, and innovative development proposals, signals an exciting era for the industrial and logistics sector. We have an extensive track record in industrial and logistics and understand its importance in achieving sustainable and economic growth. Our refreshed brochure showcases the breadth of our work. Significant projects such as Northern Gateway, Project Dragon and Thrive in North Warwickshire are among the projects that demonstrate the advantages of ‘essential infrastructure’, whether it be in responding to economic needs, market requirements or contributing to social value initiatives. Read more in our brochure below about our track record of working with industrial and logistics projects of all scales. 🎄 In the run up to Christmas, our Manchester team had the privilege of volunteering with Wood Street Mission, helping bring joy to struggling families through their 2024 Christmas Appeal: https://lnkd.in/gfVD4mNS The Turley team collected donations from across Manchester, organised toys and gifts, welcomed families to the Christmas shop and helped them choose the perfect presents. With over 100 families visiting Wood Street Mission’s shop each day in the weeks before Christmas, we were proud to play a small part in helping with the wonderful work they do. The industrial clusters bring significant opportunities in the transition to net zero. During a roundtable discussion we hosted earlier this Autumn at the Western Gateway convention, we explored the barriers South Wales Industrial Cluster, West of England Industrial Cluster and Net Zero Industry Wales are facing together with cluster leads and key stakeholders in the region. We have identified the six top barriers impacting the industrial clusters and delivery of net zero infrastructure projects in the South West of England and Wales. How do we tackle them? Read our latest article to understand our perspective on solutions: https://lnkd.in/e6gVzgqk The six barriers: 1. Investment to support ambition 2. Planning, policy and partnerships 3. Inefficiency, repetition and closed conversations 4. Skills and resource 5. Sentiment and public acceptance 6. Spatial understanding of available land, energy use and needs #NetZeroInfastructure #Sustainability #IndustrialClusters #WesternGateway Nicola Riley | Emily Bell | Jadine Berry

Our teams in Bristol, London, Manchester and Birmingham have been busy in the run up to Christmas supporting our regional office charities. This is what we’ve been up to so far in December: • In London we’ve been whipping up cakes for a bake sale to raise money for FoodCycle. • In Birmingham, some of our co-owners have chosen to donate the money that would have been spent on a Christmas present from Turley to SIFA Fireside. • In Manchester we’ve been collecting toys, gifts and books for Wood Street Mission’s Christmas appeal. We’ve also been volunteering in the Christmas shop. • In Bristol we’re taking part in North Bristol and South Glos Foodbank’s reverse advent initiative, helping to collect the foodbank’s most needed items this Christmas. You can find out more about the work of these brilliant charities at the links below: • FoodCycle: https://foodcycle.org.uk/ • SIFA Fireside: https://lnkd.in/dzA7NHqv • Wood Street Mission: https://lnkd.in/gMXzwGN • North Bristol and South Glos Foodbank: https://lnkd.in/eCsX_q5f

📣𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗡𝗣𝗣𝗙 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 Government has delivered on its commitment that we would have a new NPPF before Christmas: https://lnkd.in/d_wMqrcK The changes consulted on in July 2024 were positive and while there are tweaks in response to the consultation, the Government’s intention to boost housing supply and accelerate economic growth is clear. We will be unpacking the detail over the coming days, but welcome headlines include: ● Maintaining a strong presumption in favour of sustainable development ● Encouraging growth in sectors of the economy that are prioritised in the emerging Industrial Strategy ● Confirming that new housing targets are mandatory and that where necessary Green Belt should be reviewed ● Refining the definition of grey belt in support of the above ● Refining the “golden rules” for release of Green Belt land to ensure they are deliverable ● Resolving recent confusion in relation to sequential testing in relation to surface water flooding ● Adjusting transitional arrangements to encourage early submission, and where needed, review of local plans Further accompanying documents are available below: ● New Housing Delivery Test (2023 measurement): https://lnkd.in/gU25-QAq ● New updated guidance in PPG covering housing needs: https://lnkd.in/dsRH-px ● Government response to NPPF consultation: https://lnkd.in/ea4Qk23q #NPPF #Planning #Housing

We’re proud members of Real Estate Balance and are committed to building not only a more diverse and inclusive employee-owned company, but also a more diverse and inclusive industry as a whole. We took part in the company survey which contributed to Real Estate Balance’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Survey 2024, the findings of which are crucial for understanding how the industry is doing and where work needs to be done. The findings are available below.
Reflecting on our 2024 Real Estate Balance Survey Results👇 We've published the findings of our industry Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Survey 2024 - the fifth edition of our biennial research and the most comprehensive study of its kind in UK real estate and its associated sectors. This biennial exercise gives us a detailed look at who we are as an industry across gender, ethnicity, and social mobility—highlighting key EDI challenges, effective practices, and areas where further action is needed. 📊 Some key findings: 🔹 Gender balance at Board and senior leadership levels remain as long-standing and key EDI challenges. 🔹 Ours is a broadly gender-balanced industry at the populous levels of qualified/equivalent, graduate/entry and support. Although the percentage of women in middle management positions has fallen, the data challenges the idea that a lack of diversity in the pipeline is responsible for the underrepresentation of women at senior leadership level. 🔹 The importance of EDI to job satisfaction for the individual respondents is high and dissatisfaction with how companies deal with EDI issues overall is relatively low. The majority of participants also feel comfortable discussing their career and life aspirations with their line managers - an indicator of inclusion. 🔹 Companies and individuals agree that EDI policies/action plans, flexible working, active driving of cultural/behavioural change and enhanced parental policies and practices are widespread and having an impact in progressing equitable, diverse and inclusive workplaces. 🔹 Crucially, there is consensus on both sides of the study on what our industry should be doing more of: incentivising behaviours which further EDI, reverse mentoring and talent development plans, particularly for those with underrepresented characteristics and social backgrounds. 💬 A Word from Our Managing Director, Sue Brown: “It is hard not to be disheartened by some of the results – particularly the gender balance at senior levels and it is clear there is still more work to do in this area. But we must not lose sight of the fact that the lived experiences of people working in our industry, and the culture of the industry itself, have changed dramatically over the past ten years." 🛠️ What’s Next? Real Estate Balance will be convening our Board, committees and executive team in the new year to develop a programme of activities informed by these results.
