Awards shows are ubiquitous and tiring AF. In the ad and creatives industries it’s a (few) full time jobs staying on-top of it all. But, of course, they can also be great fun to enter, judge, attend and WIN 🤗 …. And you’ll be pleased to know that they all REALLY kick off in January! The Thought Partnership has compiled a handy list of awards shows, dates and most importantly, the DEADLINES. Luckily for you, we ❣️ awards: the strategy, interrogating the results, writing them, producing case films, dealing with all those pesky stakeholders & even handling the actual submissions (Sara Cosgrove ;)) 💩 Is your creative work really and truly award-worthy, particularly for the big-ticket shows? 🚮 Will your money go to waste? 💰 How much budget should you allocate to awards? 📽️ What does a stand-out case film look like? 🏆 How many/what categories should you enter and what shows should you prioritize? Here's the sheet...DM us if we've missed any and I'll add them in. Back home in Montréal after three amazing days at IBTM World in #Barcelona. I had the opportunity to share the stage with my friend Adam Walden to talk about how GitHub and C2 design events that keep their audience at the centre of the experience. We focused on four main ideas; 1. Thoughtfully entertaining (your customers have plenty of distractions - give them emotional reasons to stay engaged) 2. Respectful (they’re giving you their time, be concise and action oriented) 3. Nutrient dense (have every moment matter and be intentional - don’t waste their time - see #2) 4. Relentlessly authentic (Being authentic to your brand and to the details your audience cares about Can’t give enough thanks to Charlotte Williams and Josephine Andrews from The Thought Partnership for inviting us and for assembling such an amazing, brilliant group of events pros for the #Exceptional Experiences workshop. Of course, we’ll see you all at C2 Montréal in May, right?!? 😀

According to Fast Company - these are the 66 brands shaping and defining culture. “This year, from more than 1,200 applications, our team of judges—Fast Company writers and editors—identified 119 brands and 10 CMOs that exemplified how to build brand affinity while showing up in broader culture and communities related to their businesses. Of this year’s honorees, 66 stood out for work that was impactful, cleverly conceived and executed, and ultimately consistent with their brand ethos and popular perception.” It’s interesting to see titan household name brands here (American Express, Gap, McDonald's rubbing up against exciting, breakthrough brands like Tony's Chocolonely, Athletic Brewing Co. and Ghia and life-changing businesses like SickKids Foundation. Congratulations also Wieden + Kennedy - for their culture-led work with clients 😆 Well done to all the brands on this list - expect a speaker invite for our 2nd April event in NY 😝 to join our roster of brilliant speakers. Erika W., James Kirkham and Matt Klein are some of the sharpest minds on AI and its impact on humanity and culture. I hope to be moderating them :) Please vote for us. Thank you thank you. At a time where AI agents shape decisions, behaviors, and economies, what becomes of human agency? Drawing on our journeys across commerce, gaming, and cultural brands—fields where technology and humanity collide—we will debate the tensions between automated intelligence and authentic creativity. AI offers precision, scalability, and efficiency, yet it risks eroding the messy, human qualities that drive innovation: intuition, empathy, and resilience. The future isn’t about AI replacing us but about reimagining how we work with it, harnessing these tools to amplify human creativity rather than dilute it. By redefining agency in this AI-driven era, we can shape systems that serve our values instead of ceding control to algorithms. How can we design a future where human ingenuity and machine intelligence thrive together, unlocking possibilities beyond what either could achieve alone? In this dynamic discussion we'll find out. Would love for you to vote for us on Panel Picker so we can deliver this fabulous discussion at SXSW London next summer ☀️ 🌤️ 🇬🇧 I will be alongside the indomitable Erika W. and insanely smart Matt Klein all curated by brands & culture supremo Charlotte Williams *AI Agents vs. Human Agency: Who Will Win the Power in the Age of Algorithms?* 🤖 At a time where AI agents shape decisions, behaviors, and economies, what becomes of human agency? 🎮 Drawing on our journeys across commerce, gaming, and cultural brands, we will debate the tensions between automated intelligence and authentic creativity. 💻 By redefining agency in this AI-driven era, we can shape systems that serve our values instead of ceding control to algorithms.
